Feathered Friday - THE FEATHERED POND SAGA - EPISODE 2 : A NEW PROTAGONIST
In the last post of this series ... that was also the first episode of the Saga ... the Common moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) was introduced as a guest star appearance ...
... but during this week, while preparing the second episode, I saw this bird regularly on the pond ... so, at first I thought that she will be one of the regular guest stars in the series ... like Robert Culp in Columbo ... or John de Lancie in Star Trek : The Next Generation (The interesting Q charachter) ... but then I decided to put her among the real regulars ...
On this photograph you can take a good look at her colorful beak ... and on the following two shots ...
... she is feeding on some floating vegetables ...
... and on the following GIF ...
... the domestic goose is eating something in the shallow water.
On this photograph the female mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) is resting, hidden on the weeping willow, her brown shaded plumage is a good camouflage ...
... meanwhile the male is sailing on the open water. All these shots were taken on a sunny day ... this week was mostly sunny ... but on a gloomy Monday ...
... I made these cloudy photographs ...
... the Mediterranean gulls (Ichthyaetus melanocephalus) ...
... in their aerial ballet ...
... it was a beautiful free spectacle ... great choreography, set design and everything.
On Monday I also encountered the real guest star of this episode - the common chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) ... on this photographs you can see the male ...
... and here … barely visible ... camouflaged near the water - is the female.
On this photograph ... the Eurasian coot(Fulica atra) ... is passing by ...
... and here ... the coot is eating the same thing the moorhen was eating at the beginning of the post. And now ...
... let's go back in the sunny mood ... on this and the following photograph ...
... the coot is approaching two mallards.
The domestic goose is feeding again ... and then ...
... she goes to rest near the bench.
Here are the mallards again ...
... ready to make a little swim around the pond ...
... here they are swimming like a synchronized pair. And now ...
... with the usual shot of the setting ...
... and the closing shot of the male mallard with the light that emphasize the shiny feathers on his head ... is time to end this episode - THE END ... as always in these posts on Steemit, the photographs are my work.

All these birds from one pond?
Unfortunately, there are only ducks on our ponds,
But in the forests there are a lot of pheasants)
Yes, all on the same pond. And some other species come and go from time to time. Is the only relatively large and permanent pond that never dries out in this area and is very attractive to many birds.
