FIRST Shot
I had an appointment, right near Parker river National Wildlife Reservation, today.
I also had my brand new, never used, lens with me. So, a trip up to Christen It, so to speak.
I promised myself, first shot, no matter what, would get posted.
And there it is.
Not perfect focus (in fact, pretty lame: the reeds in front of the Heron are Tack Sharp!), nor good framing, either.
Irony, is: it's a Life Bird for me: A Tri-coloured Heron. First time ever seeing one.
Geeky Camera Stuff:
Nikon d7000, 600mm, f 6.3, 1/500th.
No processing. I wanted to post as is.

Pretty bird, cool that you went out and posted whatever you got!
I usually hide things I don't like, but, First Shot? New Lens? seemed like a perfect excuse to post whatever it was.
I am just happy it wasn't an accidental shot of my sidewalk, while holding the camera pointed down.
That would have caught my attention seeing it in my feed.
Still an awesome capture! I've never seen a tri - that's wicked cool! And whoo hoo for new Nikon equipment!
Always fun getting new toys!
And yea, very cool to see one. He was NEVER still, always running to dip and strike to catch food.
Which makes that shot all the cooler. 😊
Very cool!! I've never seen one either.
For a birder like me, it was cool!
