Bon Paris, pour tu. Part 1

Ah Paris, the city of love, non? Perhaps not but I've been twice now, every time I do I love her. There is a magesty to her, from the courtyard of the Louvre to the heights of Sacre le Couer. Alas some may not ever get to see, so come and wander, vicariously through me.

Trip one:

I arrived in Paris after already struggling in Milan, two agencies had split the costs of my plane ticket, my board was paid, but I wasn't landing gigs and my modeling agency was pissed. Want to know what modeling is like. Go to a theme park and wait in lines all day without taking any rides. Also add a whole lot of travel between the rides. I was up against 16 year olds from Sweden and Norway, Germans for whom fashion was passion. As a 23 year old Canadian there on a blind whim, really not hungry enough to be at the table, I failed. After one particularly long line, hours without reaching the end, I walked out, bought a baguette and thought. I am in Paris, this beautiful city, why do I feel this shitty? So I quit/ I got fired, said I was heading back to Milan, my ticket wasn't for ten days, I said I'd change it. I didn't. I left my paid board and took up residence at Hotel Caulincourt, a beautiful little hostel on the mount by Sacre Le Couer.

image.jpegPretty self explanatory ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I called up an old friend from Germany and we went out to explore the city.

image.jpeg Tossing back wine on the steps of Sacre Le Couer, the only photo of this post I didn't take, all credit goes to an Aussie we met at the hostel.

Obligatory Moulin rouge shot, damn you Baz

A wander around Pere Le Chaise to find Jim Morrisons grave. (I really dig The Doors) He dead

image.jpeg The tower is better with context

image.jpegDuring my modeling stint I was moonlighting as my own photographer. Tripods, the original selfie stick. Norte Dame Cathedral in the background

image.jpegThe Louvre, where great art lives and is some how upstaged by one little Italian chick.

image.jpeg The look on her face is priceless, from the Louvre sculpture gallery, if you know the artist, please leave it in the comments

image.jpegDon't worry Ms. DeMilo, from this angle it looks like only a flesh wound.

image.jpeg How to take photos when the decoration and art are EVERYWHERE

image.jpeg Then I left

Sort:

don't gulp your absinthe like that :P Sip and appreciated.

I swear it was the bottom and not the top of the glass.

I've been hiding in all my posts, but this is the me you met 10 years ago. We've come a long way.

As soon as I saw those pictures, my mind drifted back to Insomnia! 10 years is a long time and yes we've both come a long way. And I remember the day you said you were going to train as a carpenter. I thought you were making a mistake but I remember thinking you were young enough that if it was you'd have lots of time to recover. So I made a point of not trying to convince you otherwise other than a couple a' slaps the side of the head just to test your resolve. Ha! And look at you now! Journeyman! With wife and family. You should be proud of yourself Eli! Now let's see where the next ten years take us! Looking forward to it!

😄 I've got a lot of work to do still, look forward to seeing what movies you can build here.

I just melted... a little

Haha

Truly lovely pictures and a great story on top of that!
To see Wilde's tombstone is my dream...

Thank you for sharing ⭐️🎀🍾🎀⭐️

I'm sure I took a picture of Oscar's death slab, unfortunately the digital era has a way of erasing memories not saved. I'll leave it your capable hands to get that photo, again.

The day I go I promise to share....
Le sigh....

haha those cigarettes....

Two guys, one ashtray, neither of us willing to clean up after the other.

we all know that Paris is city of love.....but no offence to french lovely people.....i have heard that many tourist complains when ever they ask in English ...they never try to answer them.....is this rumor

Pas de problem, after a few seconds of me butchering their language, they plead that I speak English... Je ne comprende qi?

I know I'm going to get heat for this, but ever since "Rakka" came out I can't see the Eiffel Tower in the same way anymore.

I do like your photos though, the elaborate gravesites are somber yet beautiful.

Thanks for sharing this.

They really are some of the most beautiful monuments I've seen, if you go to Paris, it is definitely worth the wander. Jim Morrisons grave though, pretty dull comparatively.
