THAILAND / Impressions #2 / ERAWAN WATERFALLS Photography /38 photos/
There are 7 Erawan waterfalls. A beautiful place where you can escape the heat, relax, swim, and just bond with nature. If you have time, give them a try. It is a wonderful 1-day trip.
Location: Erawan National Park | Tha Kradan, near the Myanmar (Burma) border.
Depending on the transportation it is between 3 and 4 hours drive from Bangkok. The park is close to the city Kanchanaburi. Most tours will have a stop there.
The Erawan park has also caves with stalactites and stalagmites. We did not have time to see them.
The trees have beautiful roots, there are some places when you can be totally alone and just relax. One can see also very beautiful flowers and some animals.
A few of the waterfalls have big fishes. If you want to swim, be careful;). I don't know if they do it to everyone, but they attacked me, they don't really bite, but they nip. After about 15 fishes started tasting my skin I spent an hour on a rock collecting bravery to get out of the water. If you are not prepared, it could be scary.
If you ever plan to go take solid sports shoes, spay against insects and don't party the night before. To visit all 7 waterfalls and come back on the time, which is given from the organized tours can be hard.
Special trees are called tree nymphs. They could be considered as queens of the forest. People like to please them and bring them clothes & accessories. Often there is a statue, which is a symbol of the tree nymph. The Thai word is "Nang Mai" which means female wood. They believe every tree has a spirit and name them in a different way.
Offerings to tree spirits usually begin with a story of interaction between a human and the tree. Sometimes the interactions can be inauspicious signs or bad omens. Discovery of tree spirits can also come through natural phenomena. Legends in the Thai oral tradition say the spirit inhabits a Ta-khian tree and sometimes appears as a beautiful young woman wearing traditional Thai attire, usually in reddish or brownish colours.
On the way to the Erawan Park or on the way back there is a stop in the city Kanchanaburi.
People walk around to take photos. There are cute little girls pretending to play guitar collecting money.

Beautiful tour Bella! I've been to Thailand many times but never set foot in Erawan waterfalls. Don't know how i feel about the fish nibbling at your feet... I'd probably run out screaming!
