Flashback To The Weekend Before Last ..

That Saturday had been locked in before we both got too busy. We made sure that that day was reserved for starting our Christmas decorating. We wanted to get a jump on things before we felt the pressure from Thanksgiving coming a weekend later than normal. We had lots to haul out of the basement, including trees, santas, lights, ornaments, and miscellaneous things collected and bought over our years together. A Christmas party is on it’s way as well as family and friends headed our way for good times and good food. We needed to make the Saturday as productive as possible, and I think that it was.

We Got Lots Done ..

But the most notable of them was getting the 14 foot tree up, in place and decorated. Of course it is always the thing I dread the most due to its size, weight and height. My wife is always quick to remind me whose idea it was to purchase such a large tree (yes, mine), when I start to complain. I admit my part in this, but in the end it’s all worth the effort. Even if my back, arms and neck are aching from over exertion, I still get a special, warm feeling of accomplishment when its completely decorated and lit up.

Tree up, lights on, garland on, decorations on, warm Christmas feelings on...

One Down, 8 left to go ..

Not all as large as this one, but yes you heard me correct.. We have eight more to bring up and put into place. We also have to go to the tree farm this weekend, to get our ‘Real’ tree. Something else I always look forward to; spending time with my wife, finding the perfect tree for our little Christmas with Molly and Pepper.

It’s Finally Feeling Like Christmas ..

Now that this stately, statement of beauty and peace is in its place. Although it will be dismantled and taken back down in about six or seven weeks, I can’t help but wish for the next few weeks (the ones leading up to our Christmas party) to hurry past. I am excited for the conversations and pictures that will surely be had and taken by the tree. I am ready for the comforting hugs and warm greetings from family and friends who decide to gather with us to celebrate. I also realize that this season will be over and past in a flash and gone till next year, so I want to make these fond moments last.
