Here is a look back at a few of our Halloween party invitations & how I made them!

One of the funnest parts of having our annual Halloween parties is creating the invitation that we send to all of our guests!  Costumes, makeup, and lots of editing go into creating these spooky images!  Here is a look back at our past three year's of invitations :)

2013

This is @timcliff in one of his (and my) favorite Halloween costumes!  We took this photograph in the woods by my grandma's house.  We shopped around for a while to find a few dead trees to give the imagery more of an "Autumn" look.  I later found out that our grandma's neighbors were driving down the gravel road at the time, and had to look twice when they saw Tim in costume wandering through the woods!

2014

Eerie costumes and spooky makeup were used to create the portrait images.  Once the images were edited, they were layered with a variety of lighting elements, colors, and other textural imagery to give the invite this unique look.

2015

This invite features my phantom costume!  It was especially fun to take the photograph. I had most of the lights out, and chose a long 10 second exposure time, to give me enough time to pose on one side of the image, and then run to the other side and pose again.  This look could have also been achieved with a little photo editing - but I like a challenge :)

I hope you enjoyed my post!  Wishing everyone a spooky October season!

I really like the phantom picture. I never knew you could do that with the exposure. Did you move while it was exposing? It seams like it would be hard to do in the dark. Is the phantom's semi transparent look due to the split exposure time?

Yes. I posed in one spot and counted a few seconds, then quickly ran and posed in the second spot for a few seconds lol. It was pretty fun and took a few tries to get it right. Because I was not standing in the same spot for the entire exposure time, it gave me the transparent look. I had just a tiny bit of light on in the room so I could see where I was going :)

These are very cool! I bet that was one fun party:)

Great ideas and just in time for the 'crafty' Steemians to get crafting on their own!

Spooky. Halloween already?
