Mushrooms and Fungi Photographs in the Barossa Valley

in #photography8 years ago

Mysterious mushrooms and fantastic fungi such as Pixie’s Parasol, Jelly Baby and Lawyer’s Wig are found in the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley area.

Most of them are poisonous, but so beautiful at the same time. The entire forest was dotted with these beauties and I couldn’t resist getting down on the ground and shooting them. The kids had loads of fun because it was like a fairyland to them. We came across quite a few kangaroos hopping through the forest too. They can be difficult to photograph when on the move. I was once walking in the bushland and heard something coming at me from behind. It was a huge kangaroo and it almost bowled me over. Not far behind it, a dingo followed. Too fast to photograph though.

This was taken in the middle of winter in the Adelaide Hills. We camped just up the hill and cooked on the campfire in the rain. It was very cold and damp, but well worth the photos.

I hope you like my photographs. I took them using my old Nikon D200 with an 18-55 lens.

Carefully... Not all mushrooms can be eaten ;)

For sure! I wouldn't actually eat or even touch any of these. I had a friend pick mushrooms from a field once and cook them up. He offered me some and declined. He ended up very sick in hospital. These mushrooms cannot even be touched as they are toxic.
