Macro Photography Session | New Cactaceae family
Hi everyone
Back to another session of macro photography.
This time exploring again a new member of the plant family Cactaceae.
Love to shoot these crazy spiny plants with all their weird forms and highly modified leaves.
Looking at this one and although some research, i´m still in doubt about the correct species, maybe something between a Britton & Rose Cactus and a Devil´s Tongue Cactus... or Pachycereus Marginatus, really, i´m no sure, there are so many different species...
Without more delays, let me present the model
My introductory thoughts about macro photography:
It's amazing how macros with their blurred background can result in such different images full of contrasts and textures especially with this kind of subjects.
In the world of photography, especially macro photography, there is a universe of things available to everyone, enabling totally different and original approaches.
Before moving onto the result...
Feel free to check some of the previous macro photography sessions with a technique short description:

- Macro Photography Session | Cacti and their thorny dimensions
Here i present the technique used through a short visual tutorial:

Among the various possible techniques to shoot macros, this is perhaps the most affordable and effective technique for those who have a camera with removable lens.
We can simply remove the lens and reverse the direction, and by using an inverter ring it ends up being more comfortable and facilitates the process.
Let's now move onto the result:
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/50 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/45 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/50 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/65 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/45sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/40 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/55 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/40 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/60 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/55 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/50 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
F-stop: f/0 | Exposure time: 1/65 sec. | ISO speed: ISO 800
These photos weren't taken with a tripod, hence the unclear result.

Google Gumnocalycium saglionis. I had one.. killed it :(
Such a pretty plant!
That´s exactly the name :) Thanks a lot for your help, again :P How did you let such a robust plant die? did you drown her?
I am not sure actually. I had it for over a year or so and it never really grew. Then it just got all brown and died.
It could be too much rain. Could be something else.
Nice shots, great macros!~
Glad you like it 😊 thank you so much 🤗
