Hunting Rare Fish, The Endemic of "Krueng Pasee" River
Today I and friends decide to hunt for endemic fish in "Krueng Pasee" River, near Lhokseumawe, North Aceh. Called "Landok" Fish by local people. For now, the fish is quite rare, because much people arrest them in illegal ways; such as poisoning and electrocution.
"Landok" fish is almost same as mahseer fish, but its body is shorter and its scales are smaller and smoother.
We'll catch this fish by using the net, which are custom made traditionally by fisherman. This tool is guaranteed not to damage the river's ecosystem, because it will only trap the large fish already.
OK, here we go...!!!
Our destination is Pulo Meuria Village, Geureudong Pase Subdistric, North Aceh Regency which are in coordinates 4.977044, 97.073190, as shown on the map below:
Arriving at the location, we immediately prepared the net to be installed in the stream of the river. The length of each main net is approximately 20 meters, amount to 2 pieces.
One of the net is mounted transversely at the river channel, while another is dragged from the top to the other net side, so that the fish at the bottom of the river will run over the net and get caught.
To disrupt the concentration of the fish, we also cast nets in the installed web corridor.
