A few more days to mid-autumn festival. Sales of mooncakes started few weeks ago. This was what I saw when I was at Vivo City a few weeks ago. The open area has been converted to a mostly mooncake market. My lady had been going to this last couple of year. Such place are good for variety and sampling of different mooncakes.
再过几天就是中秋节。几星期前开始已经很多开始卖月饼。这是我几周前在怡丰城看到的。 这大空间转变为主要是月饼市场。我太太近几年也在这里。 这样的地方有很多各种月饼让你选择和品尝。

Another time at Suntec City, their open space was also made into a mooncake market.

This one is an extension from the bakery called Cake History at HDB Hub in Toa Payoh. I manage to convince my lady, it’s cheap and good here finally.
这个是意见面包店Cake History摆出来在大巴窑建屋局中心广场。终于说服了太太这里的又便宜又好。
Here are the choice. There is even durian flavour.

This is what is called piglet. It’s like only the pastry part of the mooncake without the paste inside.
这猪仔挺可爱。做得挺精致。
This is Teochew style mooncake which contains a yam paste inside.
这潮州式月饼里面的馅料是芋泥。
The lady finally bought a box for her parents.
太太终于卖了一盒去娘家。
There, we tried one mooncake. Yes, not much different from the more expensive ones.
在她娘家试了一个。的确跟较贵的也不是很大的差别。
Next day, she brought back this traditional paper bag after work.
隔天，她下班带回来这古老纸袋。
Inside is this box with their traditional design that has not change for decades.
里面这盒是他们的传统设计，几十年不变。
Let me take one out for closer examination.
让我那个出来看清楚。

i just bought ours yesterday. we got a discount cos it was like a few days away and maybe they are worried it won't sell out. 25% discount ar!
Always the case but if you want specific flavour or type, then sometimes it is too bad. If not choosy, then best to wait longer.
Hahaha I can’t give the mooncakes after the festival la - my mum will kick me out of the house jk jk
Moon Cake season is upon us. I actually made moon cakes on Thursday with my students. It was a class activities. We made simple ones that didn't need to be baked. Mine turned out ugly, haha. Maybe I should write a post about it.
The best part about moon cakes is the incredibly decorative packaging they come in. I gotten them in boxes that had drawers and in each drawer were more boxes with each containing a moon cake.

The more traditional one. I quite like green tea flavour. never tried the durian though.
I bet they are all good. I find to me usually an $8 piece of cheesecake is just as good as the $1 piece.
Ah .. we the not choosy about sweets.
