Hello my dear steeming photo lovers!

Welcome to the next issue of the Steemit Photo Journal!

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everybody already supporting @photofriend! Without your help, engagement and support this project would be pointless!
I am very interested in your critical opinion and I will gladly listen to any suggestion on how to improve this journal. I am also open to new topics and I would like to add some in the future, so please, do engage and leave comments.

Plankton Support - #photofriend - The hashtag update.

#photofriend runs since the creation of @photofriend but was not really active. I needed some time to understand what it can do for the Steemit community before specifying its purpose, and I believe three weeks were enough to do so. From Monday on, it runs to support high quality posts including original photography and reward them. It will also inspire others, help them understand what a good quality post is and increase the overall quality of Steemit photo posts. At least this is the idea!

Read ''Introducing #photofriend. The hashtag race!'' for more details, rules and rewards.

I decided to give you an example of a recent post participating in the hashtag race. It has everything that a good photography post should have and it can serve as an inspiration to other participants.

Famous Photographer - Eve Arnold

Eve Arnold (née Cohen; April 21, 1912 – January 4, 2012) was an American photojournalist. She joined Magnum Photos agency in 1951, and became a full member in 1957. She was a pioneer of photojournalism. She specialized in capturing natural shots of famous celebrities and is responsible for some of the most memorable photographs of Marilyn Monroe.

For Arnold, there was no dichotomy: “"I don't see anybody as either ordinary or extraordinary," she said in a 1990 BBC interview, "I see them simply as people in front of my lens.” Arnold was particularly noted for her work using available light, concentrating on the image in the lens and eschewing extensive use of photographic lighting and flash. Of this she said "By the time you set up lights the image is gone" in a Guardian interview in 2000.

Must-watch - Born into Brothels (2004)

Documentary ‧ 1h 25m
Release Date: December 8, 2004 (New York City) / Directors: Zana Briski, Ross Kauffman
''Documentary photographer Zana Briski journeyed into Calcutta's underworld to photograph the city's prostitutes. In return, she offered to teach the prostitutes' children the basics of photography so that the kids could document their own lives on the streets of one of the world's poorest cities. The resulting photographs, often astonishing, were exhibited around the world; many of them are seen in this film, which won the Academy Award for best documentary feature in 2005.''
This is a touching film without being maudlin, beautiful without ignoring reality. In English and with subtitles for the children's commentary. Highly Recommended.
