Photo Police (Introduction)
Hello Steemians!
The Photo Police is a new project created and run by the selected members of @photofriend.
@photofriend is a community of photographers supporting original photography on Steeemit and fight against plagiarism. To improve the overall Steemit experience and help fellow photographers is our shared mission. Come to join us on discord: https://discord.gg/qtbFfkp
We want to make sure that our values are being followed and our members are posting only original content. To be a member should be a guarantee of originality and something to be proud of.
Every week we will randomly choose some of photofriend's members and run a check on them. We will make sure that they post original content.
Every Thursday we will publish an article announcing our weekly findings. This article will also include a list of all verified members and our internal blacklist.
The members of the Photo Police will remain anonymous for obvious reasons. However, if you come across any plagiarized content among our members, feel free to help and send me a private message on Discord.
I'm all for combating plagiarism but this whole secret police thing seems a bit Orwellian. How will they be held accountable and how will we know if they're doing a fair/good job, especially if we don't know who they are? I don't think @photofriend's intentions are bad but I've come across numerous instances where similar projects have erred or even been deliberately misused and abused to cause considerable harm (and usually with little recourse to remedy the situation).

The intentions are surely good. We want to make sure that photofriend is upvoting only original content. And this is the reason behind the creation of the Photo Police.
Everything will be double checked and final decisions will be still made by @photofriend. The secrecy is simply to protect involved individuals from possible downvotes.
Let's wait for next week's report, hopefully it will clear the air... :)
