We've been lucky enough to see a couple Yellow-Eyed Penguins during our time in New Zealand. They're the most rare penguin in the world and are in danger of extinction if things don't turn around. This guy was sitting on some rocks by a site we camped at, we think he had been hunting in the water and got scared out by some sea lions who were in the area. Our guess was that he would return to his colony after the sun set, but not entirely sure! In the meantime he posed quite nicely for some pictures which I appreciated.
