Sand Abstracts Photo Gallery
This evening I went to the beach for sunset photos, but was captivated by the shapes of sand, so I spent about half my time there just photographing that. This was the first time I took sand photos, which is somewhat surprising, since I go to the beach for photos often. Perhaps I didn't notice them before; or maybe they were more dramatic today than usual. It was COLD!
Location: Silver Beach (Saint Joseph, MI)
How trippy! They look like they could be satellite imaging photos or something of a desert in the middle of nowhere. What kind of lens were you shooting on?
Hey, thanks for the comment! I used the 18-55 and 55-250 with the Canon 70D.
As @markangeltrueman has said (he is My Master), these are great. Your eye for the abstract is in no doubt. Thanks for sharing these images and congrats on the curie upvote. I have re-steemed this on the @steemsearch blog and given it my seal of approval :)

Awesome, thank you!! :)
I liked your picture.
Thank you! Glad you like them.
Really nice @shadalene. Amazing textures. The black and white really brings them out in the photos. Nature is always so inspiring and intriguing. Keep up the good work. Resteemed on my art and design wall :)
Thank you so much for your comment and the resteem! Yes, I agree, nature has so much to offer! The patterns were so jarring it was hard to pass by without due attention! :)
Loved hot sands move..Great images!
Thanks much!
Really artful. I love seeing patterns like this in nature. I wish i lived near a beach!
Yeah, having a beach nearby definitely has some benefits.. That's about the only nice thing around here though. :P What nature do you have where you live?
Beautiful pictures
This pattern on sand came from seawater or something else?
Thank you for sharing this post
Thank you! These are from a beach at Lake Michigan. :) I think the patterns were created by the wind.
Thank you
Some absolutely beautiful abstract shapes and very moody lighting. Love the postprocessing too. The black and white just makes this series pop. My personal favourite is the portrait one. That pattern in the bottom right there (nice rule of thirds work), just draws my eye in. That negative space with not as much pattern in the top left gives great contrast. Fab work
And i think that's a leaf in the bottom left of one of them. Thats a great use of depth of field and it leaves me wondering (sorry for the pun there) how that leaf got there. It seems so out of place and intriguing.
yeah that one was my favorite photo. It almost has an optical illusion quality, the out of focus sand waves almost seem to move on their own
Thanks for vote and comment, @carlgnash!
Hey, thank you so much for these comments! The vertical one is my favorite as well, for the same reasons. And yes, I liked that leaf as well, but I only noticed it in processing. That's when I realized I could have played more with composition, but honestly I was there to photograph the lighthouse and didn't even expect to like the sand abstracts so much. I might go back to play some more with these..

Thank you for letting me know!
So nice of your photo, the air shapes the sand when it blews, how wonderful was Gods creation
Hey @maane, thank you! Nature truly is a gift to us from God. :)
