Photo talk - Cuernos

Two weeks ago I visited Berchtesgaden for a few days. I did a lot of scouting and hiking, trying to find unique photo spots, which hadn't yet been photographed so often.

I basically started at the iconic locations and did some hikes from there. Nowadays with the internet and all those photos posted online it's easy to get lazy and just photograph from viewpoints, which have already been proved to be offering spectacular views.

That's why we see so much repetition and imitation when browsing through the different photo sharing platforms. And quite honestly I don't understand all the hype around some of those locations. Sure there are locations, which really stand out. But do we have to take the exact same photo again and again?

What's important is to look beyond those iconic locations and put in the work to find your own view. Even in the overcrowded photography space there's still room for originality.

This photo for example was taken not too far from a very popular photo location in Berchtesgaden. On my first morning I also went there to have a look. But I didn't feel overly inspired and there were also already several other photographers.

So the following days I scouted the area and one afternoon I found this beautiful viewpoint. I had seen photos of those mountains before, but not from this perspective. So I went back the next monring to photograph during dawn and I got a photo, which I believe shows quite a unique view of those mountains.

So as you can see it's still possible to come up with new photos, even in areas, which are not very remote.
