READ THIS! A Photographers Dilemma.
I've never really called myself any one sort of photographer. I do portraits, landscape, and wildlife. I haven't defined myself to a niche. I find wildlife photography a challenge, I find landscapes meditative, and portraits to be incredibly satisfying when well done. However, many articles I've read tell that to blossom and create a business, one must be specific in their work and not be diverse. As a community, what do you "Steemians" think of this concept that to succeed one must build and concentrate on a specific niche?
You can do multiple things. Just keep separate websites for each one.
That way let's say if you shoot weddings and landscapes, you'll want to create separate websites so brides won't be looking at your landscape work. That way you also look like an authority on that particular type of photography (and you can charge more).

Concentrate on one field. You'll adapt different techniques from other fields but you'll develop a style more quickly.
The obstacle that I run into with this, is that I derive different aspects of enjoyment from different types of photography. Do you not think that the overall enjoyment of the art should be put over the want of developing a marketable and recognizable style? @kieranstone
If you want to make a living off it then choose one you can do as a job and enjoy. The rest can still be an enjoyable hobby. I enjoy different styles but I make a living off landscape photography.

I did like what @kieranstone said below but I also think nitches are more than just what type of photography. I think it is also about branding yourself and what sets you apart from other photographers. Maybe it is about how you use color or light, or perhaps you shoot from a unique perspective. Really define what your style is. Then research different markets to sell your photography and pick the best ones for your style and type and what you want overall as an artist.
It sounds like you've found several different ways to challenge yourself and grow as a photographer, which is great. But I think if anyone is to make a living creating any form of art, at least until they reach that legendary sort of level, there are bound to be creative compromises that have to be made. Until you get there, I think it's all about gathering as much feedback as possible, and really developing your own style and voice. If you have a product that represents something truly unique and interesting in the photography space, and it might take a little luck and a ton of networking, but I think that's where the money can come in, regardless what niche you find for yourself.
