Overcoming Existential Crises

in #photofeed6 years ago

How can we face our lives with the ever present fear of death and non-existence? That sometimes incapacitating feeling of pointlessness and utter depression. Why do we go about our days to wind up at the end eventually and not be able to follow up on how existence is doing without us?

We do it because we must.

Not a crying in agony of a compulsorily “must” or an emotionless obligatory “must”. But with a “must” of gaining strength from the inner willingness to derive a purpose from seemingly random and pointless events. A drive to discover all that is possible from a limited amount of time. A strength that grows from easing others struggles in life.

A feeling of pointlessness and a will that is too weak to go on is a choice. A choice that is made deep within your mind. A choice so strongly embedded it resists those first attempts at acknowledgement. You can choose to break out. You can choose to feel that hopeless weight that drags you down and let it go.

You will fail.

Your mind will tell you that you have every reason to feel this way. Some event in your life broke you. Your life is going no where. Who cares? What’s the point? All good reasons to feel depressed. That’s why you’re there. Even now your mind is probably telling you that your situation is different. That you have no say over how you feel. You are depressed and there is nothing you can do about it, right? Who says there’s nothing you can do it about? You do… not anyone else…you. You’re telling yourself all is lost. That is the choice you made. You CAN make another choice. No matter how much your mind tells you that you deserve to feel that way you can change it.

You will succeed.

As addicted as you are to the feeling of hopelessness, the strength attained from climbing out of that hole is exhilarating. It is life changing. It brings focus and control over your life you could never conceive imaginable. The will to find purpose in all that is in front of you is there, screaming to get out if you shut off that debilitating negative voice that is drowning out the beauty around you.

There is no good or bad, only Order and Chaos.

Good and bad, happy and sad are just words we can label anything with. How you choose to use them is up to you. Take the Chaos and the Order and find Balance in an existence that is shaped by you.

As addicted as you are to the feeling of hopelessness

My immediate reaction was "who does this" and then it hit me, that explains some things about some people!

Swimming monkey looks pretty chill :) Maybe we all just need to float and chill for a little while sometimes.

Chilling out and not fretting over the little things does help 😊

Awesome! Thanks!

Life indeed can be a bit like a yoyo. Finding meaning in the pointlessness is the challenge we all face.

Nice shot; and nice words to go with it.

Thank you. It's hard not to feel insignificant and focus on the bigger picture too

Wise words and sweet monkey! Awesome colors.

Thank you. The monkey did all the work! ;)
