Revisiting Old Photos

in #photofeed5 years ago

In this fast pace world of social media and staying fresh and on trend, calling something old could mean a few months ago. The photo below is ancient in that sense, as it is from 3 years ago! However, it was taken with the same camera and lens I still use today. Flying cars haven't been invented yet so the scene hasn't really changed either. I could (and will) post this photo to Instagram and no one would know I didn't take it the night before unless they read the caption.

Also I hear Ja Rule is trying to revamp Fyre Festival! So much lol. It did make me think of how I post photos from around Australia and over the world to my socials and if that's all you see of me, then you'd think I'm never in the one spot and constantly moving from one exotic location to the next. But I don't. I live in Melbourne, I'm not in Sydney at the moment as this photo might suggest, most of my Instagram posts are made from my couch. I probably travel more than most people, but there is a lot of down time, and I'm pretty much a stay at home dad at the moment too.

I feel ya. I was looking through older photos tonight as well, and got a serious case of the nostalgias (didn't help that I was listening to nostalgic music). It's always instructive to see how my composition has changed in the intervening years, and fun to reinvigorate old RAWs with new processing techniques.

Great minds think alike ;) just saw your Instagram post. I like looking back and not liking my compositions or editing style. It means I'm progressing or adapting.

That's a good way of looking at it - in fact tonight I was wishing to myself that my photos from five years ago had been much worse by comparison, haha.

Hi, sorry for the intrusion, but I felt identified with your comment, I see that it is something more common than I thought, I also pass reediting my old RAW files to incorporate my new knowledge and experiences. Thanks for sharing.

Intrude anytime, that's what makes this place fun! Also, welcome to Steem. :)

Nice. Your on a light trail tear at the moment. I do remember this shot when you posted it last time but cant remember how it has changed ;-)

Probably because of how long it can take me to produce a homeschool blog (and I'm not even processing photos most of the time, usually they're just straight off my phone because I'm lazy time strapped) I generally don't assume that photos posting are as of right this second or even kind of recent unless it says so in the post XD

And as for "old" in social media I remember being judgemental about someone who was scoffing at something being "old news" because it was a couple of days old. It was Youtube though so couldn't be bothered expending the effort XD

Have you posted this particular photo previously or is this just a good spot for a camera? As I'm sure I've seen it before, or maybe it's just the view I've seen before. Either way, still a good photo whether you took it just then or three years ago XD

Lol. Youtube comments in most cases aren't worth reading or writing.

I have posted this scene before (at least I thought I had...can't seem to find it). This shot includes a different exposure for light trails and is processed from scratch.
