SHOOT THE MOON (3 Examples)
Good luck to all those photographing the "Blood Blue Super Moon Eclipse"
Here's the last 3 times I photographed the moon during three recent months.
FORECAST: CLOUDY IN UTAH
I was awake for the eclipse this morning and I looked out and saw a lot of clouds... so I wasn't gonna make the 30-60 minute drive to get somewhere to see it well. And I didn't have a cool forground picked out that would work for 600mm.
It's 4:50am ... I'm headed back to bed.

ENJOY THE 3 MOON SHOTS WHICH I HAVEN'T POSTED YET
Got this earlier last month up in Idaho when photographing a Temple
This just goes to show I could have gotten out there and probably still got a good shot this morning... but still... This is one of those shots you just get from the side of the street when you notice the moon in a nice location
There are some tricks to getting a 600mm moon shot to work without being shaky... I didn't employ those fully because i was rushed because I just saw it while driving down the street... but I still like it

THE STAR LENS???
My Sigma 150-600mm SPORT
It took all three of those shots.
It's a strong buy recommendation from me. If you don't know if you need it... then maybe hold off.
Here's an affiliate link for amazon = http://amzn.to/2DT3aT6
I love that last one with the tree . I might steel that idea ;-)
I got up this morning at 5am and looked outside and it was cloudy; so went back to bed. Then got up at 5:45 to go to work and it was clear with the blood moon out my window. Too late to get my gear out to photograph but at least I saw it!
Yeah i think I went back to bed when you woke up. haha
It's fine ... it's not like missing a SOLAR ECLIPSE... now that would have been really sad this summer!
Hi, that is an amazing picture of the angel Moroni. Are you a Latter-Day Saint? I am. ☺
Yep even have a few books.
Oh and I'm gonna test out this affiliate linked image to amazon while i'm at it. haha
My husband is travelling to Salt Lake and surrounding areas for a temple holiday. He plans on visiting 20 temples and go to General Conference. I will show him your work. Take Care.

These are great photos! I am curious though, in the second two shots how did you capture the detail in the moon with those slow shutter speeds?
As a hobby photographer, I just wrote about my experience trying to shoot the moon, and the only images that sort of worked were very fast exposures. Maybe I am missing something (I probably am), but again, I'm just curious.
Great shots!
