RE: The Lone Pine
I like foamy beers, Mark, that's why I was so impressed with this one :) Yes, we have both the American and the Czech Budweiser, and I gotta say that I much prefer the Czech one. By the way, the 500ml bottles of the Czech Budweiser are made in Bulgaria.
Thanks for your comment! :)
My dad brews at home and, occasionally, a rogue yeast will get into a bottle or two and replace the dominant strain. He's gotten a lot better at preventing it, but the results are... spectacular! It can create a skunky smelling beer, of course, but the most impressive is the pressure and foam. One time, I opened a bottle and it shot foam out the top until there was only about a third of the "liquid" beer left in the bottle... You probably don't like them that foamy, though :-)
As for the cans v bottles debate, it's sort of like the bottles vs boxes for wine. Boxes are superior in some ways, but they don't have the same aesthetic or experience as a bottle does. When it comes to beer, though, there's no arguing that it's best from the tap!
Haha, that's way too foamy! I remember opening a well-shaken soda bottle once, and it literally exploded in my face :D
Maybe you are right that it's more about the experience of drinking from a bottle :)
Well, he's gotten better, but I still get a bottle like that once in awhile. Always best to open them over the sink, just in case!
