Berg Lake and Steve

in #photofeed6 years ago

It was one year ago this past weekend that I captured this image. It is one of those shots that keeps drawing me back to work on slightly different versions of it. I think I am however getting close to a result that does it justice. It was taken looking south towards the North Face of Mt Robson with the Milky Way rising along with the aurora related phenomena of STEVE accompanied by a ‘Picket Fence’ travelling east west below it. If you want some more information about Steve check out my pinned story on it. Berg Lake sits at an altitude of 1,646 m (5,400 ft) while the north face of Mt Robson rises 2,308m (7,572ft) out of the lake to a total height of 3,954 m (12,972 ft) and is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Mount Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada. The image is two shots layered, a base shot of the mountain and mountain reflection taken late in blue hour (f5, 25sec, and ISO800), overlaid with a sky image taken from the same camera position (20sec, f2.8, ISO3200).

Had some friends up there this weekend and they had 5cm of snow ! Summer has vanished straight into winter without any autumn this year it seems.

Steem was down today ! Glad to see it back up.

Outstanding @intrepidphotos!!
Getting some nice fall color here, no white
yet, shhhh lol
Would love to see the STEVE! Was that a
meteor also in the aurora? wow I just love
this photo, it has everything!
Aurora with the milky way looks like a
giant bird, the mountain reflection makes
a perfect heart! ❤

Thanks. It has warmed up a little again. Hopefully we will get an autumn !

I looked at the picture and thought... i bet that's @intrepidphotos! haha

;-)

Hope life is well in the airstream!

enough internet to comment on your stuff up here in the mountains... so i call that a win.

Yes for sure. Although perhaps a double edged sword if your trying to get some things done.

Well what i'm working on is internet research for a book... so I do need it. haha

lol would be hard without it I guess.

Scott, the other half of xcountytravelers, loves to do night sky photography as well. Because of this, i can appreciate the time and effort this has taken you.

You chose a perfect spot for sure and the fact that the water was calm enough to get stars in the reflection is fantastic. This always amazes me.

I am curious about STEVE and will definitely be heading over to learn some thing today. Thank you so very much for your post and photo.
