They dont like being disturbed so its important to be very quiet and stay your distance. Let them come closer to you while you remain hidden rather than move closer to them. Like any deer they wont attack unless your are physically hassling them (or get too close to a female with a baby). The main risk is if they get frightened like any herd animal they will run as a mob and you could be trampled. All the shots taken at 400mm so quite a large zoom.
I am perhaps 10 to 15 m away. Its shot with a 400mm lens. They are very skittish animals.
