I did include a shot of this piece in a previous post but on seeing it again and looking at it in more detail I decided to do a post of it on its own.

This Statue is known as the United Nations Slavery Memorial and is also known as the memorial to Honor the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade and is a permanent installation and came from various resolutions adopyed by the UN General Assembly.
It was designed by Haitian-American architect Rodney Leon and unveiled on March 25th 2015.

This portion of the memorial is very emotional to see, and to me depicts the harsh conditions many poor slaves suffered while being transported.

I can't say I'm really a huge fan of the modern look...but the body is certainly powerful. The sharp edges do kind of draw your vision to it...then you see what's inside... So I guess it works.
