📷Cave City in the Rock - Vardzia (Virtual photo tour of Georgia)

in #photocircle5 years ago

Have a nice day
Half a year ago I visited Vardzia, a historical and architectural museum reserve. Currently part of the state reserve. The territory of Vardzia-Khertvisi was transferred for future inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List

In a sheer cliff above the Kura, along the left bank is located the cave city.

I looked at the city from afar and remembered the rocks with swallows' nests, it’s very similar ... It’s just like a huge anthill, isn't it?

Do I have enough strength to go upstairs to see the sights, because the scorching sun? It seems impossibl
You can drive up in a minibus for a fee (this is not included in the price of admission), but we decide to walk with our feet, breathe the air, admire the magnificent scenery ...

We got to some memorial sign, with inscriptions in Georgian. Is this a gazebo? No, it did not save from the heat, but we have shortened the path of ascent

A little rest ... What kind of plant, wild rose?

Let's look up: Here, almost near!

Is not the nest?

At the bottom flows the Kura,

but she looks more like a creek.

Oh, like toy houses, with a bird's-eye view

...

We almost got to the sun!

Herbs dry from the heat of the sun. Yet in August!

Shrubs surprisingly green

The closer to the cave city, the less vegetation

The beauty of the stone landscape!

Do you think that we come from? ...well almost

Near it looks like.

.. while a selfie on the background of the "city". Yes, it turned out great 😃

We still need to get there!
The length of the entire complex is about a kilometer. It is somewhere, about six hundred caves, 8 floors high. We go along the tourist route, then climbing up, then going down. On narrow paths with fences. And as here without fences and railings, residents of the city were mixed up before, I can hardly imagine. Dizzy from the height!

The view from the observation deck is great!

This shot was taken from the cave

Do you represent yourself as a resident of this city? ...

Did you enjoy this virtual photo tour?
