I have received the same type of phishing attack from another account in
This one uses a short link to go to "șteemit". It is very hard to see, but there is a wrong "ș" .
The Phishing Attack is a FAKE MESSAGE FROM A HACKED ACCOUNT.
The message is from a hacked account. Do Not Click on ANY Links in Comments.
Do not click on the links - they go to a fake șteemit site and want you to enter keys.
There is another fake site / copy of steemit and it is șteemit . That's a fake "ș" not "s" at the beginning. Do not put your keys in that fake site.

Short Answer: Don't Click on ANY LINKS in comments, and Be VERY CAREFUL with where you enter your keys.
Longer Answer:
These are just links in a comment. In this case, they look like a normal hyperlink text but they go to this: http://bit.ly/###### , where the ###### is some value. It is a shortened link. On the "bitly" site, they forward you to the full link. In this case, it is the fake site.

Yes, I am trying to increase awareness. Be careful.
Makes me wonder if we need a different linking solution for steemit, one color internal link, external links a different color.
I have noticed that the link displays a small box with an arrow if it goes away from steemit. Also, the 'hover over' text will say "This link will take you away from steemit.com"
So, fortunately, there is a new indicator. You can see it on the link to Google below.

What browser are you using? I am stuck on mobile (Brave browser) a few days and it's tougher to view. I will check it out when I get back on a something with a mouse.
I see the new indicator on my laptop with Chrome or Edge, and mobile with Chrome.
I don't see it on laptop with Internet Explorer.

Thanks, I glad it is appreciated. Since the phishing attack began, I have noticed things that I feel like I MUST create the PSA to protect us all. This wrong character was hard to notice. We must be very careful.

Yes, there is an interesting spin on this phishing attack. We are reaching a level of success. We will manage a solution and come out stronger.
Nobody has seen phishing attacks like this on other social media. Who cares about stealing a Facebook or Twitter account. I guess celebrities, politicians, and other high profile people may be targeted there.
Here on steemit, every account has actual value in terms of steem . So, hackers see that there are assets to steal. The fact that every account has value, to the point that hackers are targeting us, should highlight the value of steem and propel steem higher. Even more so after we create a defense against these hackers.
