That comic is long, in a measurement sense, so it takes awhile to read the entire thing. You have to slowly scroll down, just a little bit at a time.
You can see it only as you read it.
But even if you don't know the ending to the comic, there is still an ending, and it cannot change. You just don't know what is there yet.
I think that is why it doesn't matter if we have free will.
From our location in 3D space, moving through time, the future is a mystery, so it makes no difference whether or not life is more like a movie, or like a video game.
