Mean People Suck!
I don't know what it is about the internet lately but people are so mean to one another. Many people don't think twice anymore about insulting someone, or calling them stupid in a post. I have to think most of these people would never do this in real life.
If you don't agree with the post, state your grievance but there's no reason to be rude. If your stating a correction, point to data that verifies why their post is wrong. This is how we learn and grow. If you disagree with something they stated, explain why. Unless the person has been rude to you in some way, there's really no reason to be mean, and even then I say, "Don't feed the trolls."

i do whatever i can to respect people until they decide calling names is the next step, then i entertain myself, baiting them.
Yeah, sometimes a good old fashioned flame war can be fun. LOL. It's the loss of respect for others, when they've done nothing wrong or made an innocent mistake that I find upsetting.
i try to take it on a case by case basis. i've even found that i can find common ground in some areas of thought with people who have unnecessarily attacked me in others. appeal to ridicule is not a big winner in my book. i got my fill of the Dozens in first grade. there is one person on steemit, we get along famously as long as we don't discuss veganism. i'm trying to teach logic to another person, right now, who called me a stupid tinfoil hatter. i get a little entertainment out of it, but wow, the effort some put into being deliberately mean is amazing.

this is so easy to notice. it is so obvious. no comment. you are so right but i am powerless to effect much change at this point. i will effect change in the near future tho

exactly. all we can do for now. making posts to air our voices works for now till 22nd century arrives and perhaps people will have grown hearts and mentality
In a real debate and argument, getting personal cost you, it means you have nothing else to give regarding your stance on the issue.
