Would The World Be Better Without Electricity?steemCreated with Sketch.

The unplugged world

Recently I’ve been watching the television series 'Blindspot', and in the previous episode an interesting idea occurred. The idea came from an terrorist group who want to reform America for the good, and the action they were about to take was supposed to destroy the power grid. The plan has an underlying idea, the idea that America can be a better nation when the power grid is destroyed.

I think that for the big part I agree, that when there is no electricity in the West the world would be a better place. Let me try to explain my point of view.

World leader pretend

The world has leaders, the leaders have goals. Mainly the goal of the leader is not to lead the country but to keep power (and sometimes to earn money). This is what power is all about, continuity. When there is no power grid, there will be less to have power over, and the power will be diverted into smaller pieces. Smaller pieces of power will work against the corruption of leadership and smaller pieces of power will give people a voice and show them that their vote does matter. Looking at the recent election in the US, a lot of people did not vote because they were under the impression their vote doesn’t count. When you divide power into smaller pieces peoples vote will count more and give people the idea that their vote does actually count.

Smaller pieces of power does also oblige leaders to take the opinion of the people seriously, when a county has over a million people in it, the opinion of people starts to matter less and the continuity of power starts to matter more. Everybody has an opinion, and politicians just promise to make those things real, and to make the world better. But because all politicians lie, it doesn’t matter a lot when somebody gets called out on it. On one television channel something is true, but another channel tells us it is fake.

When power gets cut into pieces a city will have power over itself, because it will have the possibility to reign over the land it has without taking in consideration the opinion of people who happen to live in the same country, but live miles away. A state will get more power when it has less contact with the rest of the continent for the same reason.

A Euro-zone example

Take the European Union for example, they have a lot of power over a lot of countries. A small county will have the possibility of sending a couple of its politicians to the parliament of the EU. Let’s say the country is allowed to send 20 people to the parliament. These 20 people have practically no influence on a parliament consisting of 750 people. The small country has to agree to everything the EU tells them, without having a fair say in the way things go. Why does the country agree? Mainly for the money, if a small country does not agree with the EU and does not participate in the EU, they will miss millions of euro’s in trade. Even though the people did not vote for this, the politicians are able to do what they want, under the claim that it is the right thing for the country and it is right for the economy of the country.

When the electricity goes down, lives will be more valuable, because machines are not able to work without power. In the modern age, people don’t fight wars anymore, machines do. One simple drone can kill an entire village. When the power goes down people have to fight wars, and I believe that because our lives, as the attacker, are in danger when a war starts, people will fight less. And when wars happen, they will be less destructive than we have seen in the twentieth century, simply because the weapons that were in play in the world wars will not be manufactured without electricity.

One thing I think is wonderful about electricity is the internet and the information that comes with it. The intellectuals have a say in the fairness of things, but as we see with news channels, they also have the ability to become corrupt in the sense that they view events from one point of view and teach people only from one point of view. I do not think the internet is bad, but I do believe that the internet is used for a lot of wrong things, like corruption someone’s point of view.

Another good thing about power is healthcare. It would be a shame if the world would go back to the way we were regarding healthcare. A lot of knowledge would be remained, even if the power were to go down, but a lot of equipment would be useless. So not all of healthcare would be lost but a fair portion would be wasted when there is no more power. It is hard to think of a solution regarding healthcare, if you find one, post below!

Without electricity lives will become simple again. We will go back to nature, we will go back to having freedom in our lives, we will go back to the way we used to live our lives. For ages we lived without electricity and we were never on the verge of destroying our planet and us with it.

This post is not an attack on the West, but I thought the idea was interesting and wanted to share it with someone. Some questions I have for you:

Do you think that without electricity the world will be a better place? And if this were to happen now, would the end product justify the means (because there will be chaos and death)? Please let me know your opinion in the comments below. This has been one mad post alright!

Without electricity, there would be no Steemit and no Bitcoin. I'm not ready to lose those two things yet. :(

Renewables at a local level - that's what I'm really looking for here = Bitcoin and Steemit :))

Electricity makes better with technology. But we have been getting less sleep since the invention of the light bulb!
Overall no electricity would make the world a better place. The frequencies of everything were and are better in the absnece of different frequencies produced which are and have been becoming more and more unblanaced.

I'll sleep softly that night on my soft feather pillow :)

A world without electricity is a deadly world.

Within a day, we go from a society that has produce and meat stores, because of refrigeration, to a society that has no food stores. Those not prepared will starve, and quick (especially in the cities)

If it happens during a cold time, the cities will be burnt for warmth.
After the cities, the forests will be burnt for warmth.
We have lots of forests still because we get our heat from other sources.
Electricity is the only reason we can live in the shit houses that we build.

The Amish have already seen this evolution/revolution, and have applied the principals. It does work.... sorta.

I do admire the principles of the Amish of Pennsylvania - I did think of them whilst writing this article @builderofcastles :)

None of the political power shtuff works.
Cutting up the electrical grid does not granularize power enough to revert it to the people.

Lets take the story of one particular dog catcher. Who was an ass.
He could be replaced at any election of the city, however, his point of view, and one that was shown to work, is that he needed to piss off half the town, about 10,000 people before he would get fired. His pissing off people left and right during his day wouldn't get to that level, so his job was very secure.

What needs to transpire is a real message board for the city. Where it becomes apparent the wrong doings, and the what doings of all those in power. Most people have no idea what their city officials do. Even less have any idea of where money is spent.

Another problem is bureaucracy. I want to go pay for my tags. In any other store, I would walk in, maybe wait about three minutes and give someone my money. At the DMV I have waited half a day just to give them my money. And is not just about inefficiency. It is about control and red tape. You better do everything in the correct order... or you will wait in line, forever.

Yes, the breaking up of power is what is needed, but most cities are too large. The granularization needs to get down to the level of a dozen houses. Or a community within a community with a city. And power needs to be given on a opt-in basis. Today, we are told about the social contract... because we are in power, so suck it up.
