A purposeless world
There is certainly no easy answer for the problem brewing and those who believe that talks about the upcoming change, the proliferation of automation, the decimation of low skill jobs, is nothing but fear mongering, are not really paying attention.
I won't lie, I've been going back and forth trying to understand both sides of the argument against and for UBI. And truthfully, the idea that if we were to implement it, all of the sudden everything would be well, is also somewhat unrealistic. In other words, in order for people to have emotional health, in order for them to retain their drive to do things, to grow, etc, they need a reason to do so, they need a mountain to climb, a gladiator to defeat.
We are wired this way, more so men. If a guy has no purpose, no job, on average of course, that man would feel depression and commence to partake of self destructive behaviors. It's connected to the idea of self worth, and social value and even though it's not entirely accurate to describe it as self removal from social judgement, it seems to be mostly the case.
I only talk about this so often, because it seems like we don't take it seriously enough and when I bring this up in casual conversation, I've noticed people recoiling, as if I'm losing a bit.
I can but don't want, to picture future where all of us live inside our bubbles, plugged to VR machines, being whoever we want online, but failing to realize things in the physical world. I hate imagining the health consequences that such thing would surely bring, but it seems to be that we are locked in for the course. Reading statistics on the matter doesn't help one but.
Interestingly enough, I've heard a few times this week ideas of social currency and time banks. Ways to assign value to things that are not currently commodities, like picking up trash in the beach, and even though some of those philosophical ramblings are enriching to me, I can't help but to tie that into what we are building in this new attention economy, this new social media movement mixed with cryptocurrency.
Too much thinking for a morning I guess, but sometimes I can't help it.

We have no choice, but change our paradigm. Uber driver replaced by robots maybe can drive inside a Blockchain game which simulates taxi driving to earn crypto and give life some meaning. Maybe most will find salvation in the Virtual World: Buy, Selling, Trading or giving services there.
Hopefully we can Delegate our SP to Robots that replaced human work force and get a lot of dividend.
With the way the world is going most especially the cryptocurrency world, the evolving of the social media mixed with cryptocurrency. I am curious as to know what the future holds for us and holds for the cryptocurrency world as the world keeps on evloving
The thing with UBI is that they will give you the most basic universal income, in order for you to be alive, but they won't give you more then this, if you want more you have to work, but, since you have your most basic needs fulfilled because of UBI, you can do whatever you want, you can be a blogger, you can learn how to code, you can go see the world, you can do whatever you want, literally, humans don't lose their drive to create relations or to work, quite contrary, people who now have their most basic needs fulfilled will try to do what they truly love...
If UBI existed I would probably workout, go out with my friends, learn how to code, develop a game, create content for STEEM, go and see the world with my friends, a life worth living... The last thing AI is going to replace is human social interactions, things that have empathy and feelings like vloggers, bloggers, tv showmans, etc...
I won't say anything else because after reading @themillionthings comment I don't need to anymore, he said everything I could say, especially the part about:
I think this will be very like not realizing how things change because they are close to you until it is more material from beginning to end. The transition will go slower than we think as the contrary would be quite messy indeed.

The idea that people would just mooch off the system and do nothing worthwhile if given a UBI is, i think, some kind of old justification or belief running through our culture from probably puritan roots (they had/have that certain "american" religious work ethic, right?). Certainly seems like some people would just loaf and live off that dough, others would feel a bit freed up to follow their passions. Some people with little sense of purpose and meaning in life might gain the meaning that our culture values and trusts them enough to give them back their time to take a deep breath, and lift their eyes up from a dusty road and look around themselves. Many of us would look to see where we might be of value in turn, seeing the world more clearly without a constant nagging stress.
Busy work for 40 years is also not fulfilling to most. If there's less uncreative work needed to be done by human hands, and such work by people makes them too tired when they get home to be creative, then a UBI would free that creativity in many cases. Sounds rather beautiful to me.
