Hypothesis of a Parallel Universe

in #philosophy6 years ago

Almost all of us have heard about the impressive hypotheses of parallel universes. It is a theme inaugurated by Physics, but its implications and its edges are so broad that they end up sheltering all other fields of knowledge.

                                            Parallel world

In fact, talking about the hypothesis of parallel universes is something that involves questions about the meaning of life. This is because in that field of thought, both life and death have a logic completely different from the one we handle to this day.

"Universe, a big casino, where the dice are thrown, and the roulette rotates once".

-Stephen Hawking-

The hypothesis of the parallel universes is the result of an unusual combination between the theory of relativity and quantum physics. Basically it raises the idea that there is not a single universe, but multiple universes that have simultaneous existence, in the same space and time. This leads to a series of conjectures that are more than interesting. These are three of them.

1. We do not have a life, but an infinite number of lives

According to the hypothesis of the parallel universes, our existence has infinite possibilities of development. As a narrative. If the central character takes the path to the right, you will find a set of experiences. But if you do it by the way of the left, what you live can be very different. Each option creates a new universe.

It is conjectured, then, that each one of us is living an infinite number of lives simultaneously. In one of them we are, for example, great potentates. In the other, we beg in the street. In one we die and in another we are still alive.

Therefore, from the hypothesis of the parallel universes, basically, death does not exist. He dies in a universe, but he is still alive in many others. As the number of universes is infinite, life too. This is perhaps the most disturbing consequence of how many are addressed in that theory.

that you are you in a parallel universe

2. Perception in the hypothesis of parallel universes

What arises is that we are not able to perceive the parallel universes, simply because we are limited by our senses. We only have five senses and it would take more than these to be able to grasp these other realities.

The human senses only allow us to grasp three dimensions. According to the hypothesis of the parallel universes, the dimensions are many more. But we do not have the biological equipment that allows us to capture that "beyond".

It is also postulated that in other universes other physical laws might exist. Gravity or electromagnetism, for example, could follow another logic. Therefore, our perception would be useless or it would not have any application in those conditions. That is why it is basically impossible to perceive them.

3. The parallel universes are never found

They are called parallel universes, precisely because they are all parallel to each other. This means that there is no way they are found, even if they are permanently coexisting. Likewise, it is conjectured that the clash between two of those universes causes what we know as a Big Bang. That is, an immeasurable explosion that, in turn, gives rise to new universes.

Some physicists designed the M Theory. Its creators indicate that the universe is inside a brane. This is a three dimensional membrane. To understand it better, we can imagine a movie theater. The viewer is in a world of three dimensions, but what is projected is seen as a two-dimensional reality. If the observer could enter the film, it would be in a three-dimensional reality, but the other viewers would continue to see it two-dimensionally.

According to Theory M, what is in that movie theater, which would be the universe, is a huge set of floating projections. Like several films that are projected at the same time, but that are independent of each other. This would be a "Multiverse", or a set of parallel universes.

Here, of course, we have presented it in a very elementary and synthetic way. The hypothesis of the parallel universes is a complex construction of physics, which for many is closer to science fiction than to reality. Even so, important contemporary physicists have devoted many hours of study. Among them, Stephen Hawking, who is said to have been working on the subject when death surprised him. At least death in this universe that he shared with us.

Very interesting topics of discussion...
Your description straightly raise a question in my mind:
If it is still a hypothesis, how we will prove it if, as you said, we can't perceive the parallel universes, because we are limited by our senses?

Have a great day, dear friend @joelgonz1982 ☕❤

Very interesting topic, thank you.
Multiverse is a very fascinating and probable hypothesis, although in reality we will never be able to prove it. Or maybe yes... we are not fully exploiting our brain and sensorial power, but in the future who knows.
It can also be possible that we enter in one of our parallel universe very often , even if we don't realize it... what if dreams are the gateway to take a look to our parallele universe, where we have the consciousness of ourselves, but we live slightly or completely different experiences, in a world where, sometimes, also the physical laws -as we experience them when we are "awake"- are upside down?
