I resteemed this because this teaching is a key "meme of empowerment". This is because one of the main objections to controversial speech is that it disturbs people. Many of the complaints to police about my speech operation were motivated by unwillingness to tolerate speech that disturbs. This is also a large part of why many people (wrongly) think that "hate speech" should be illegal.
