Obsessed. And a message from Michael Jackson.

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

I believe the great Michael Jackson had it right when he said,

"Don't try to write the music. Get out of the way of the music, let the music write itself."

You can extend this to lots of things, it's like an all-purpose metaphor for everything.

People have these megalomaniacal ideas. Like they want to do this to that, 20% there, state legislation right here, federal oversight for that, 38.2%, ACA, blahblahblah, this person to do this, these people should be doing that.

Like they argue about this minutia and forget that essentially what they're saying is they know how to dictate what other peoples' behavior should be.

The ideal outcomes that they're trying to force would actually happen, or at least come closer to happening, if they just backed off and let people live.

I'm inspired by an email chain between a few of my friends right now. They're talking about healthcare and all these various different things. I'm just scratching my head like, how do you even have time to know about all these different bills and proposals and this and that?

I'm kind of a simpleton, I just believe in letting people make their own choices, and that everything will turn out A-OK if you do that.

The people who should be obsessed with healthcare, call me crazy, are doctors and nurses and other people involved in the field. A piano player in Tennessee should play the piano. An accountant in Seattle should do the taxes. Why even worry about what a hospital in Detroit does or doesn't do?

Letting people who are intimately involved with something make their own choices and explore their own passions and inspirations and carve their own creative solutions will be stronger than you trying to make rules for them, 100% of the time, even if your heart is in the right place.

That hospital in Detroit, paradoxically, will be better off without a bunch of people obsessing over how they should provide healthcare.

In conclusion, let's listen to a few of Michael's greatest:

Life is simple, but simple is never easy smh!

Lmao greatest lesson I've ever learned! And aye that would be lit af!

And Fasho, just lmk when you do!!

Letting people who are intimately involved with something make their own choices and explore their own passions and inspirations and carve their own creative solutions will be stronger than you trying to make rules for them...

Hear hear! Well said, and you'd think we would get the idea, haha. Unless people ask for help, we are stepping and encroaching into their business.

Great choices on the songs. I'm beginning to think a 🎤 drop gif would be appropriate for these posts.

Hahaha! Thanks, appreciate it. MJ songs are kind of close to a mic drop gif lol

One day we will all back off and let the music play!! 🙆🙆 I can feel it in my bones 💪💪💪 lol

Lol, that is a good point. 😄

One day we will all back off and let the music play.
