[Symphony41] #1 slightly enigmatic introduction
I’m starting a series called Symphony41. Let me not reveal what it should be yet, try to figure it out yourself and post a comment. I will only mention that it will be a series very close to my heart. I hope you’ll like it and find value in it.
Imagine that, suddenly, an invader’s army has entered the city you live in. Let’s suppose you don’t know anything about him, as you’ve never been interested in politics. It was only announced that within a week the entire civilian population would be displaced to some distant place. Officially, it’s said that clean homes and affordable workplaces await you. Unofficially, however, there are rumors about concentration camps - the real ones, as from the Schindler’s List.
Escaping from the city is impossible, all roads blocked by the army. Most people, however, believe in the official version and there’s more anger in them than the panic fear of death. Even a shy resistance movement has been formed, which supposedly organizes some sabotages and escapes, but it seems unlikely that they’ll be able to do anything against a multimillion army of people and drones.
People write, however, that there are ways to avoid camps. Some say that you can get onto a special list if you engage in the work at the commander's house. Others recommend public cleanup works, while other ones simply want bribes for themselves, as they reportedly have profitable connections.
The whole situation has surprised you. You raise your eyes from the monitor and look through the window onto the street where the first round-up is just starting. You observe in silence a handful of random people who will soon depart into the unknown. Some go quietly, others break out and shout, while other ones try unsuccessfully to negotiate with the soldiers. You look away. It’s just the first day, so there’s a chance that you still have some time. You don’t want to die, let alone end up in the camp. What would you do?
