Time spent alone

I spend a lot of time alone. Or let's just say that I am choosy with who and where I spend my time.

There are plenty people that try to get me to go along with them to a lot of different places and do a lot of things. It is not that I do not like going outside, or seeing new places. I enjoy summer and time spent soaking the sun in my bikini just like any other girl.

It is, however, deeper than that.

What are we spending our time on? Let's talk about the two meanings of sensation...

People are spending time on sensations. The kind of hype we see on the TV. Sensation of group belongings, people who merely want to be part of some big thing that is currently going on.

Have you seen the news? Have you seen that movie? Did you know that Sarah is dating James? O-em-gee. Why do you hang out with those losers? I feel like I am still in college most of the time. This is stuff we see in any corny American High School story.

It carries on with us into maturity. What car we drive, what restaurants we frequent, what jewelry we wear and still... whose company we keep.

Instead, I think it is far more important to be focused on the sensation of being.

The feel of the sun on my body, the taste of strawberries in my mouth, and the feeling of warmth when I am embraced by my lover. It does not matter where I am in the sun, as long as it is safe and clean - but without status involved. It is the same sun. It does not matter where I am eating the strawberry, as long as it is ripe and healthy. It does not matter what job status my lover has, or that he wears a Rolex watch on his wrist. In fact, I prefer that he not wear any of that when he is close to me.

Just be human.

Just breathe.
