How Vital Is Your Quality Of Life?

Obviously, the majority opt to work in a discipline they get pleasure from and stand out in. However, there are many factors to think about when selecting a job. For instance, I've wished to be a lawyer since I was five my nickname was the hammer. (I'm joking of course)

But once I was in school, I realised that I might make as much money as the Director of an agency without the cost/time investment of law school, and without having to work fourteen hour days. Plus, the oversaturated job marketplace for lawyers persists.

So I adjusted my expectations and selected a career that's better suited to my lifestyle's demands and price preferences. I have sick members of the family that need me; I would like to be readily accessible to my future children.

Choosing Happiness Over Money?

Awhile back I selected between two job offers and chosen one that paid tens-of-thousands of pounds less. The job I selected is more rewarding, fascinating and fun; it's very near home; there are fewer transportation costs and less stress; there's plenty of chance for growth, and also the chemistry I have with my CEO is fantastic among different perks. Ultimately I'm pleased with my call and feel terribly happy and fulfilled.

What Are Your Thoughts?

So what's vital to you concerning a career? Does one like a career that's difficult or one that's low stress? Does one opt to work in fast-paced/creative/competitive environments? Are you selecting to study in a very field that you just enjoy, or one where you're more likely to get a job offer? Are benefits vital to you?

What motivates you and how vital is your quality of life (getting your priorities met) concerning your career vs simply striving to create the maximum amount cash as possible? What's your #1 objective or priority in selecting a job? Does one assume your job is or is going to be among the most important things in your life?

Sort:

You mention an important topic. For me, it is not difficult to answer. I chose a carrier in education because I think it is important to teach our young ones and I loved history. It doesn't pay that much, but enough to lead a normal life. Furthermore, the hours are not bad, so I could be with my children a lot. I did it with much joy for 40 years, the last 15 years as a Principal. I think you have to choose a job where your heart lies. People work for 40 years or so, and it is important to have a job were you can develop yourself and be happy.

I think it is definitely a better idea to pick the road where you are happy despite the financial implications it may have. I'd rather enjoy my work rather than working tirelessly on something I'm not zealous about just for monetary gain.
