key to creating the life you want.jpg

Hello Steemit family! During our travels through India and through books and teachings of really wonderful teachers, we’ve come across this tool that is sooo useful for creating what you want in life. I don’t know if many of you would call an insight a tool ;). But for me, the best tools, and the most practical ones with the most radical outcomes, have been insights, clicks, certain shifts in understanding. Insights allowing me to see things from a new perspective that from that moment on, makes everything make more sense…

One insight like that, which has been beyond any other ‘truth’ I’ve ever come across, is that the life we see around us is a reflection of ourselves. That the outer space mirrors the inner space. This might not make sense to you immediately. I’ve read a lot about this topic, heard many discourses, and over time the meaning of this key has become more and more significant to me. It’s been explained by many teachers, for me the most significant of those is Paramahamsa Nithyananda, a young Guru or Avatar of enlightened consciousness who has his ashram in India, close to Bangalore. In Vedic (Hindu) tradition this truth of inner and outer are a mirror is known as Advaitha. Allthough Advaitha stand for much much more, what I’m talking about when I say inner space and outer space are each other’s mirror is linked to the meaning of Advaitha.

Anyways, I’m sure you are wondering – what does all this have to do with ‘the key to creating the life you want’? If you are more the listening type than the reader type – here is our YouTube video (called 'you are 1 step away from the wealth and abundance you desire') that concerns the same topic. This blog will follow the structure of the video a little bit, but I’m also adjusting the content as I’m aware that you guys are a new audience and the things we talk about in the video are directed to our YouTube subscribers, who might have some insiders knowledge by now :).

So if the outer world and the inner world are each other’s reflection – how can we use this as a key to create the reality we want?

So here’s the key, this is the bottom line:

We always think that we get in life, that what we DESIRE.
We feel life should be giving us what we want.
BUT
Life responds to us according to what we BELIEVE.
What we believe, our cognitions about ourselves and about life, that is what reality reflects back at us.

Do you recognize that? The expectation that life should be giving you what you want? Basically, what happens is this: we want to have enough money (or a little more, or a lot more), we want beautiful relationships, we want to be healthy, we want to have fun and be happy and live our life's purpose. And when all or any of this doesn’t happen, we feel frustrated. Why are we not getting what we wanted!? And we point that frustration at one of two things. Either we get angry at life, we feel life is unfair, we go into victim mode. Or we blame ourselves and feel we are incapable and stupid. And whether we blame life or ourselves, in the end what we do is we give up on our desires. It doesn’t really matter whether we say it is life’s fault or it is our fault, what happens is we give in and give up and we feel powerless about it.

So what is so amazing about this understanding that the inner and outer world are each other’s mirror? It helps us understand that what we get, what we experience in life, is a result of our beliefs, of the cognitions we carry. And when we know what the blueprint of our lives is made of, we also know where we need to make changes if we want to see a different reality.

Key: to change your reality, you have to change your beliefs!!!

To change the beliefs we have, three things are required:

Step 1: Bringing awareness to our beliefs, our cognitions

Most of us will have a clue what our desires are – I want this a better salary, I want to be more fit, I want to be more happy, I want to spend more time with the kids... But our beliefs are different. For knowing them we really need to know our selves. Not just what we show to other people, but how we think about ourselves and the world when we are alone. How you feel about you when you are taking a shower, when you are at your most vulnerable and at zero pretending. What you feel about you and the world in its raw, unpolished form.

Finding out what our beliefs, our cognitions actually are is not always easy. We have a way of hiding them from others and even from ourselves. Because in general, we like our desires and are happy to think of them. But our beliefs, if we would get them spelled out to us - that would be quite the confrontation. So our deepest cognition might actually be just that: deep, and hidden under some layers of outer image and pretending to be something or someone else. Because of that, it is actually really helpful that life is our mirror.

A lot of people are angry at what life 'gives' them. But life is just the reflection of what you believe, and because of that, it is one of the only and best things we have to realise what our deepest cognitions are. You are not having the wealth you wanted in your life? Then somewhere, some part of you might feel that you do not deserve to be wealthy without a struggle, or some part of you is convinced that wealthy people are bad people and because of that, you'll be resisting wealth. You are not having beautiful, loving relationships in your life? Then maybe some part of you believes you are not really that loveable, or that if people would know your secrets, that they would run away.

To change our beliefs and cognitions, we first need to really get this click that reality reflects our inner space. Because only then we'll start paying attention to our cognitions ;). And we have to pay attention to those cognitions in a new way - really digging them out and see how our own cognitions and beliefs are damaging us, hurting us, confusing us. How they stand between us and the life we wanted to create.

Actually - if this post gets you anywhere near reflecting on the probability of our outer world being a mirror to our inner world, that would be super cool. And if you actually have a serious look at step 1 in changing your beliefs and play around with it, that would be amazing also. But right now I feel that this is turning into a tooo long post ;). And already a lot of theory has gone into it. So I’ll make this one a ‘to be continued’.

Next post, I’ll cover step 2 and 3 in what is required to change your beliefs, so that you can have the reality you wanted. If you’re interested, definitely hit the follow button. Or jump to the YouTube video ;). Still, I’ve found that these kind of insights can be super helpful in life, but that they require a certain cognitive shift that needs some more support than a one time sneak preview. So all I’m saying, hope to see you in the next post!! Thank you so much for reading and let me know your thoughts, how this does or doesn’t make sense to you.

Good post, and I agree; belief and desire are not the same (although many people think that it is). "I want XXX" does not mean "I believe that I am capable of obtaining XXX". I think, most importantly, we do not "achieve" anything; we attract the objects we desire through the energy we emit into the world (via mindset). Desiring something without changing your mindset first is simply a selfish expression of the ego... and selfishness only attracts more selfishness.

Hey, thanks for stopping by! :) yes, mindset makes the difference. And for obtaining what we want, single-mindedness, focus needs to happen. Desiring something without changing mindset first, that is just us continuing to live in illusion and I agree, illusion and ego go hand in hand...

Love the post:-) I have been through the emotional wringer as life has forced me to look at what I actually believe I deserve instead of blaming some force "out there" for what is happening to me. The universe gives us what we truly want, even if we are trying to repress the fact of our own accountability. That is a powerful metaphor, the mirror, that life shows us what we really are...and even better is that it places the control of our live squarely into our hands, if we choose to reveal to ourselves our true nature.

thank you for taking the time to read and give your feedback! yes, I think that is what happens - life has to put us through that emotional wringer, till we stop blaming and take responsibility. and taking responsibility is the way out of that situation :).
