Yes you're right - to forcefully change someone else's perspective by telling them or proving that you're right is WRONG!!!

Instead, we should listen more to understand how they feel deep inside and respect that feeling of theirs. Only when we are able to respect them despite being different from us, will they be willing to give a damn about how we feel.
