Let Me Show You The World #11 - A Beautiful Ancient City of Rome
The Vatican City of Rome became the seat of Catholic Church after endless dispute between Muslims and Catholics over Jerusalem. Growing up in a devout catholic family, I've always wondered how the City of the Pope looks like. I am glad to have taken a trip to see this city within a city.
Vatican is a sovereign state ruled by the Pope, so referring to it as the City of the Pope may be pretty accurate.
Above was my home while in Rome. Hilton is a mid-range hotel. At the time of this travel, I did not know any other hotels and made the decision based on a friend's earlier trip to the city. Although it wasn't bad at all, I would have stayed somewhere else a little pricier, but a lot better view, location, and amenities.
But if you think about it, all one really needs for trips like this is a bed, a bathroom, and internet :-). After getting settled, I decided to walk the streets of Rome shown in the photo below.
A police car reminding me to enjoy, behave and stay cool! :-)
I then went around to see some of the oldest structures in Rome:
I am ready to trow in my Philippine Peso for a wish at the Trevi Fountain - one of the most famous fountains in the world.
Of course I wouldn't miss visiting St. Peters Basilica.
The Altare della Patria also known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II or "Il Vittoriano" is a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel - the first king of a unified Italy.
The Mausoleum of Hadrian, usually known as Castel Sant'Angelo, is a towering cylindrical building in Parco Adriano, Rome, Italy. It was initially commissioned by the Roman Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family.
The next day seems blue. No not sad, just that the sky, my shirt, and the many shades of blue amidst the many tourist in Vatican city seems to be the dominant color.
At least the Spanish Steps seems more colorful, but still predominantly blue.
If I am being honest, while I liked this trip because it is different from the many others being like a trip back to history, I did not really had a lot of activities I enjoyed in this one. Hope you like the photos!
