Typhoon Urduja doesn't scare brave Steemians
Yesterday while the country was preparing for typhoon Urduja which caused havoc to my hometown Tacloban my friends from Steemit and I were on the flooded road, getting wet and discussing #crptocurrency #sbd and the in and out of the steemit world to pass away time and to keel ourselves focus to do a #Christmas party in one of the orphanage where the typhoon will run its course.
Straight from work I heed to the North bus station to wait on my friends from Steemit. The meet up time was nine am but since our friends and another Steemians had engine trouble we end up leaving wat around 1130 am.
We arrived Bogo at around 4 pm and start our party with games like Hheep heep hooray, paper dance, trip to Jerusalem and longest line. What fun it was to see kids giggling and laughing
Giving gift to someone you care about this Christmas is normal. But to a stranger it's not especjay if one has a long list of people in the first list. This experience to share the holiday spirit wasn't any easy one. We braved flooded roads and gusty wind to be in this place where God's compassion is exemplified. It was this thought that were doing service and of course intellectual disccussion on crptocurrwncy that made this trip amenable despite its risk .
Yes we got wet all throughout the trip from Bogo main street to the orphanage rough roads. Yes it was more comfortable sitting in front of TV or dining with friends in the city yet seeing the smiles on this kids unwrapping their gift, hearing them exchange it with a song and a hug when you're about to depart is priceless
The gifts may not be as grand as a kid born with a silver spoon but the it was well appreciated. Special shootout to special couple who coordinated the event,to the donors in absentia and to the helpful nuns who runs the orphanage.Yes I will be back next year rain or shine because this giving without asking an exchange is the essense of Christmas for mw
Besides with this girl sharing what they learn about crptocurrwncy and steemit it's not just a charity event but sort of unplanned meet-up as well. I bet our non Steemians "Santa "friend will be joining us sooner after this event after all I bet he heard from all of us for the entire duration of the trip how steemit obsessed we are.
I am grateful for this growing community of Cebu Steemit. I am grateful to share my time with this bunchful kg energetic kids. Most of all I am grateful for this same minded individuals who are into volunteerism like me. Indeed it's a Happy Christmas to me despite the fact my hometown Tacloban and other cities are under calamity because of this strong typhoon Urduja. Once again we were able to say to ourselves no calamity with ever stop passionate Steemians like us in a God's call
Beautiful, Urduja did not stop the christmas spirit., keep up the beautiful work maam .
Same to you @purplezantine
