PHC What's Your Top 3 Contest

This is my entry into this month’s PHC Top 3 contest. To be honest, there are so many to choose from. I am the generation that spent Saturday mornings in front of the tv with a bowl of cereal. Heck I'm the first generation to watch Sesame Street. Hated most half days or being sick because there was nothing to watch until 3pm. Sadly kids nowadays don't have this part they get news, talk shows and maybe a sitcom reruns. Let's have some fun and see the corny stuff I chose.

This months topic is FAVORITE KIDS TV SHOWS

My Nominations are: Schoolhouse Rock, ABC Afterschool Special, Scooby Doo

Nomination Number One

Schoolhouse Rock

My Reasons for the Nomination

I admit it I am a nerd, always have been. These 'commercials' stuck in your brain. They were fun and educational. I know why on earth did you choose something educational? That's boring. Well these in my opinion are far from boring. With titles such as Conjunction Junction, I'm Just a Bill, Electricity, Electricity plus much more. There were/are 64 episodes broken down to Grammar Rock, Science Rock, Multiplication Rock, America Rock, Earth Rock, and Money Rock. I got a little help from Wikipedia on this one Link

Nomination Number Two

ABC Afterschool Specials

My Reasons for the Nomination

Yes another... 'educational' program. I told you I am a nerd. These aired infrequently in the afternoons. Oddly enough usually on the days we had half days. ABC (the network on which these aired) would promote them at night so we always had a little bit of notice. There were 152 episodes made and it was made until 1997. Anyway, these dealt more with social issues. Child Abuse. Improper touching, The human body, and so forth. A few of these even starred actors that were on TV shows and movies.

Nomination Number 3

Scooby Doo

My Reasons for the Nomination

It's Scooby Doo, enough said 😝 If you saw the movie and think that's what Scooby Doo is, then you need to watch this video. All the episodes were the same. Lost in a creepy area.Something terrorizing the town or business. Everything turns out to be a hoax that it is someone who was out for revenge or personal gain. 'And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids!'

Since I've given you just a small tasted of what a Saturday morning was. I came across this video which covers almost everything.

Hope you liked my trip down memory lane. This took me much longer than I thought. I kept having shiny moments going through YouTube LOL!!

Oh dear, I only know Scooby Doo.

It's ok @joelai 😊 I know the other 2 are a US thing. That's why this one is video filled :D Even though they're based in an area almost all of it is useful all over. I think Schoolhouse Rock might be why I find history so intriguing. I have a few that I still sing the songs from. I guess it shows us that no matter how old we get, as long as learning is fun you don't realize you're learning so it's not a chore to be dreaded.

That's true! Learning should be fun...

Remember seeing Scooby Doo, not sure if it was on our TV or a movie theater short. Great seeing the various types of shows people enjoyed when they were, well little people @tryskele

Thank you @joanstewart. It is and seeing how much things have changed.

Awesome choices! Oh man Schoolhouse Rock brings back some memories. I could probably re-learn a thing or two going back through and watching some of those again. I loved Scooby-Doo, too! It is really funny looking at it now how similar all the episodes are, but still a lot of fun to watch as a kid. I don't remember the ABC ones too much, but I'm sure I probably caught a few. So funny to see some actors like Sean Astin in it when he was so young! Thanks for joining us this month @tryskele!

I was trying to see if the Afternoon Specials were just a California thing. I couldn't find any information whether it was or not. I agree @plansttoplanks to see now who was a part of this Sean Astin, Scott Baio Sean's mom Patty Duke Astin. Jodie Foster, and so many more. I was actually looking for the one with Jodie Foster. I'm sure she snatched it to prevent anyone from getting their hands on it LOL. It was about a girl who signed up for boys' baseball. It was always good topics, better than a parent talk.

Could be! My family still loves watching the Jim Henson holiday special "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas." The only people that consistently know what the heck that is grew up in NY, NJ (where I was born) or PA, so I think it originally aired locally. Jodie Foster had some great hits when she was really young, so it would have been fun to find that special, too!

Scooby Dooooo,
Where are youuuuuu? 😇

Nice pic's @tryskele. The educational stuff that was mixed in with fun is always a winner. I was always a big Sesame Street fan.

Scooby Doo is a legendary cartoon. It's been running for so long and even though the newer stuff is not quite as good as the original stuff, it's still pretty good.

Best of Luck.

Thanks Gaz. I promise I'm around to vote this time. I need to start going through the other posts. I didn't look before my post this time. It was fun going through YouTube finding videos then seeing other thing you could have mentioned too.

This month, in particular, it seems very hard to eliminate any top picks. I feel like I have betrayed the shows that didn't make it. It's really hard.

No worries. It's not a betrayal of any kind. I do understand with having to choose something. With the curating I do for the @pifc contest. I hate having to pick someone I like more than others. Last week was hard I wanted everyone that I read to win. They did a fantastic job. If I had more Steem at the time, I would have rewarded each one.

This is a fun thing. It's bonding 😁 Sometimes things make it sometimes they don't. For me personally, I know I like off the wall stuff and thoroughly enjoy going through the other posts.

Schoolhouse Rock is STILL one of my faves! I've inflicted a number of the videos on our kidlets, and they were less than impressed. However, it doesn't stop me from occasionally singing at them, "Conjunction Junction, what's your function?" 😊

I just spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find Jodi Foster's Afterschool episode...LOL! I got lost in the joys of remembering eps with Kristy McNichol, Robbie Benson, Melissa Sue Anderson, Kim Richards... 😃

And lets just say that the phrase, "Ruh roh" is uttered in our household on a frequent basis... 😂

Excellent choices, @tryskele!

Guilty of all of the above @traciyork. When I was looking for a good Schoolhouse Rock to share I was singing Electricity E - Lec - Tricity. I giggled when I did this one. I had a lot of fun. It took me longer than the others, just because I got lost searching .
