#YellowFlowerDay: Anemone. Petals Contests (7 photos)

Maybe it's because of winter was too long, or March was too cold... But when I finally got out of the b&w city and accessed this small forest, I couldn't stop making photographs of these flowers! They were so bright-yellow on the green carpet of grass. My first growing flowers on this season :)

But a couple of words about the subject. It was the first point of our 2-days itinerary of a wonderful trip to the south of Ukraine. This place is called "Trykratskyj Lis" (ukr.) that can be translated as "Triple Forest" and it is a state protected nature territory in the Voznesensky district of Mykolaiv region near the village of Trykraty.

The flowers are Anemone ranunculoides. The scientific name of the family comes from the Greek anemos, which in translation means "wind". And they are really very sensitive to the slightest breeze (trust me as a kind of photographer).

It is an ordinary early-spring perennial plant of our deciduous forests, 10-25 cm tall. Decorative and poisonous plant. Anemone blossoms at the end of April - early May.

It is used in pharmacy. Drugs made of yellow anemones have narcotic, bovine, antispasmodic, hemostatic, diuretic and antibacterial properties.

This is NotAnemone, but also yellow and pretty :)

But the most valuable property of the forest is 120-200 years old oaks, there are over 350 trees. I was also very lucky to see a pair of a Kingfisher - for the first time in my life!
