Treat Your Eyes: Daffodils and Other Spring Lovelies
My favorite daffodils are starting to bloom! The show is just beginning. Here are a few preliminary shots. These particular daffodils are very special because they are a memorial to my neighbor’s husband. She lost him to ALS a few months after we moved to the neighborhood and one day she brought us a bag of 25 or 30 bulbs to plant in his honor.
They have grown so well, I’ve had to separate them several times over the years and now my whole front yard is festooned with them. It makes me so happy when they are blooming.
According to my research, this variety of daffodil is called Narcissus Tahiti or Tamar fire. If you know more, please educate me!

Phlox from my front stoop. It’s in full bloom now and lasts for about three weeks.
A neighbor’s winter roses in burgundy - don’t see many of these. Usually they are white or pink. Also known as Hellabores or Lenten roses.
And finally, some daffodil lovelies from another neighbor’s yard. Captured during yesterday’s afternoon stroll with my son on his bike.

Bonjour @orangina. J'ai vu que tu papotais en français avec @acroquer alors je me permets de te parler dans cette langue car je ne suis pas très douée en anglais. J'ai admiré tes jonquilles de toutes sortes, elles sont magnifiques et cela fait du bien de voir que le printemps arrive enfin même si nous ne sommes pas sur le même continent.
Je te joins une photo de mes hélébores blanches et bordeaux ou "bourgogne" qui viennent tout juste de s'ouvrir.

J'aime beaucoup que la verdure persiste même en hiver. C'est moins triste comme ça!
Love the Tahiti fire daffodils! They remind me of Springtime growing up. First it meant that March had arrived and therefore my birthday was imminent. Second it meant that Spring was around the corner and my sister and I would be authorized to remove our shoes when we went outside. The refrains of "Mama, can we go barefoot yet?" go hand in hand with daffodils. Third it meant, dig out the liquid food coloring. We loved to pick a handful of blooms to put in a glass jar filled with water and a couple of drops of food color. It was so much fun to add our own splash of color to the canvas provided by these beautiful blooms! PS, Blue coloring created my favorite effect!
