How To Execute SELECT query to MySQL Database Server using Perl Language?

So here for this video we are assuming that we are makihng use of the DBI module. There is also legacy mysql driver module that can be used but lets for the sake of discussion stickw tih the DBI module.

It takes parameters for the mysql connection like localhost, username and password and database name etc. And then while making the query you have to specific the tablename in the datbase. Once those things are passed you can easily run the query for the select operation.

For example it will look something like this.

 my $sql =  'SELECT * FROM people WHERE id >= ? AND id < ?';

Here we are selecting everything from the table and displaying it on the page.

Tips for Running Perl Code

You can check the installation of the perl by typing the following code if you are on unix or linux, in case of windows you have to check the path if perl bin folder is added there.

which perl

Perl code requires you to have the code stored in the .perl file extension file. This way when you run the perl code say it's in the file named helloworld . pl

You can run the perl file on command prompt like this.

perl helloworld . pl

That's it. You can now execute the perl code on your computer.
