The investigation into the disappearance of Jacob Wetterling is classified as "open".

According to a source, Deputy Mark Mix, Stearns County Sheriff's Office in Minnesota, said the Wetterling case is an open investigation.

This is significant because in 2016 law enforcement reported that a man named Danny Heinrich confessed to murdering Jacob - he said he murdered Jacob the day he disappeared - October 22, 1989.

Now - I am going to tell you the truth about what happened Jacob Wetterling. And you are going to understand that this case and cover up has colossal implications to our country.

Four months after Jacob's abduction, his parents, Jerry and Patty Wetterling, formed the Jacob Wetterling Foundation, an advocacy group for children's safety. In 1994, the federal Jacob Wetterling Act was passed and named for Jacob.[24] It was the first law to institute a state sex-offender registry.[25] The law has been amended several times, most famously by Megan's Law in 1996 and the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act in 2006.[26]

In 2008, the foundation started by Jacob's parents became the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center.[27] It carries on the work started by the Wetterling family "to educate the public about who takes children, how they do it and what each of us can do to stop it".[28]
The Bridge of Hope, a crossing of the Mississippi River near St. Cloud, is named in Jacob's honor.[29]

Patty Wetterling rode the wave of media, sympathy, and popularity when she ran for Congress in 2004 but did not succeed. Wetterling decided to enter the race after Stillwater lawyer Janet Robert withdrew. Wetterling received a $1,000 campaign contribution donation from U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama, one of only 3 political contributions listed for Obama that year.

According to Wikipedia Patty Wetterling is presently the chair of the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children.

Now I'm going to tell you why the federal government is worried.

After the bogus confession by Heinrich, Jerry and Patty Wetterling filed a lawsuit to prevent the release of some of the records from the case. The federal government also sued to re-claim some of the FBI files from the case, which ended up comprising some twenty five percent of the file.

“When the federal government comes into a state district court and says the foundations of the republic are going to be shaken if you rule against us, it’s tough to ignore that. And the judge, understandably, is going to be deferential to a federal agency’s claim,” Anfinson said.

However - in April of 2018 a Minnesota state judge ruled against the Wetterlings bid to seal select files that would be embarrassing or hurtful.

I already know and have previously reported that the Heinrich confession was false and Minnesota officials staged a media event to fool the public because at that time, American Public Radio was about to release an investigative series entitled In The Dark that featured the Wetterling case. Only days before the podcast aired - law enforcement announced the case was solved which forced APR to make changes to their podcast.

In a plea deal with the State of Minnesota, Heinrich would not be charged with the murder on the condition he admitted to it.

Heinrich led authorities to bones that were supposedly Jacob, but records show the bones turned out to be animal bones.

According to a source inside the investigation the kidnapping involved three men:
• Michael Bahner
• Richard Bahner
• Lou Kohls
The Bahner’s said in a recorded confession that “Jerry Wetterling” put “Lou Kohls” up to it.
THE KIDNAPPING AND MURDER OF JACOB WETTERLING

1. On October 22, 1989 Michael Bahner, Richard Bahner, and Lou Kohls parked their burgundy colored vehicle on what was called the “brush road” which sat along the road where Jacob was abducted.
2. The men hid in the ditch.
3. Jacob was abducted and taken to an apartment in a sleeping bag.
4. Jacob was tortured.
5. Jacob was cut up into little pieces and thrown into a river.
