Here is the deal, you post a comment explaining what you like about @pifc's Curation Contest and/or ideas of what can be improved and you will get a 100% upvote. You need to have experience with the Curation Contest, so prefer those who have entered the contest but will also look at comments from those featured. Will even look seriously at those who give some honest thoughtful opinions on the contest.

The concept is laid out here as to why I'm doing this and really don't want to retype all of that. But know it's my way of giving back and pulling some data for a future post which I feel will help some people understand how their votes effect the vests assigned to each vote. This is about to become much more important with HF20 as 50 vests will be removed from each vote no matter the size.

Rules

This is pretty simple:

  1. Post your honest thoughts on what @pifc Curation Contest is doing right, what can be improved on, and ideas that might help us grow.
  2. Have experience taking part in the @pifc Curation Contest as a Curator or Featured Blogger, or really understand what we are doing so your thoughts are helpful.
  3. In 34 hours from the post time (Noon Chicago, IL USA time on Wednesday) I will start upvoting every comment that qualifies at 100% in an attempt to drain my voting power to 50%. This gives everyone almost a day and a half to find this post and comment.

You can Help

Need your help so this doesn't turn into a job. Please tag a few of your recent featured bloggers so they know to come to this post. Your featured bloggers opinions are really important to me!

Vote Values

At 100% power my vote is currently worth 11c and at 50% it will be 5c so you will be getting at least that much from me. Odds are really strong that the last votes will all be for @minnowbuilder as I will have that account reply to each comment in case I need more comments to upvote for my test. Most of the votes given will be between 7-11c most likely.

Almost Forgot, Now at 2,000sp total

I lease about 1,000sp and just powered up enough to have 2,000sp for the the test. Wanted this to be an exact number as it will help with the simple high level talk about vests. Easy math with things are even numbers.

This post has been revived by steem-forever!

contest seems to run smooth as is but think it was good when people tried to find brand new bloggers. maybe make bonus for much lower level.

took care of that delagation, send the steem whenever you can.

Thank you!

So glad I caught this. Not here a lot this week but hope to catch up some this weekend.
I Still love everything about the weekly challenge. I do wonder how the judges hold up week after week. I myself try to visit as many features as possible. The only real issue with that is running out of vote power way too soon. Our judges are like the energizer bunny going and going...
I personally am trying to use my features on those who really seem to need the boost. Maybe they will click on over and want to play along.
It is great to see a couple of those people getting really involved.
There are quite a few of those I have featured in the past who I stay engaged with on a regular basis like
@roleerob @janton @delishtreats @juliabreheny @ginnyannette

Voting power is always an issue. It's one reason we moved to ending entries on Sat night so the judges would have 2 days to recharge. There are times they drain well below where they want to be.

Thanks for trying to find others to join in the fun!

Voting power is always an issue

Yes indeed! I am trying to buy some more. Coinbase is being a bit difficult this time with the ID verification. Maybe that will work itself out while prices are still down.

Best of luck with the verification process. They can be a real PITA at times to deal with.

Something to consider is to use esteemapp for your voting/commenting. It will allow you to pick say 50% voting power and spread the love a little further.

Thank you! I did start testing esteemapp out for the posting features. I hate to cut an already tiny vote but great info to have just in case. I hope to play catch up on some Steemit stuff on Saturday.
I have been tempted to experiment with leasing. Need to learn more.

First things first, I have read none of the 4 comments already posted, (I normally do so as not to repeat stuff).

PIFC is one of the few, if not the only contest that rewards people for sharing information about new users. We all remember how hard it is to make a splash when we first joined steemit.

PIFC, has created a dedicated group of people that go out scour through the new feed, the introduceyourself feeds, and other methods to find people with quality blogs that may be being overlooked. This has brought to, (at least to mine), attention of quality in the making or potential. Many of those selected and profiled by a "contestant", end of participating in the process, so there is always a good selection of people to look through for when some is looking for new content.

The manner in which the "finds" are presented, aid people like myself, looking for content. There is a small bio or report of what the "contestant" found. More of a curator than a "contestant".

In closing it helps the "contestant", it helps "quality content producers", and it helps content hunters. a very good trifecta.

When explaining the contest to the potential guest judges I've been calling the contestants curators on a regular basis as that is what they are. Some truly start off as a contestant, but if they stick around for a couple weeks they become true curators of content once they really "get it" and buy into the whole concept.

Thank you for your thoughts!

They really are after getting their feet wet a few times, then they start to look at and for the better quality content to feature. A lot of the picks do deserve some small curies or large curies in some cases. The contestants/curators should get a curie fee for any content that does get curied.

Only wish we had an in for curie that would reward our curators. That would be amazing as there have been more then a few featured posts that were picked up by curie after they were featured.

Lol, I didn't read your comment, but I wrote something quite similar!

Yes, on something like this post, it requires not reading comments. A lot of the same or similar comments are likely to be posted, but that just goes to show how well the contest is looked at as a "resource".

First of all, I'm very curious what conclusion you'll come to regarding the upvoting business :) But more importantly, the contest! I've been mulling over the rotating judge 'issue' and I'm thinking we should invite from our list of regulars who always enter the contest. I think they'd appreciate seeing the flip side to this whole thing.

Generally speaking though, I love the path this contest has taken; everyone participating has made it awesome ... from judges, participants, sponsors ...everyone, including you lol :)

There are more then a few that would make great judges and I'd love to do this too. Sure you know the idea of the guest judge was to add some exposure and hopefully bring in some large upvotes for featured posts. Know that at least 1 person got a full 100% upvote last week from knircky and he was the top vote on many posts. While it's not all about the money, it's really nice seeing some people get a bigger reward for their content.

All that said it's still a great idea and one we will need to work into the rotation.

Yes, I hear what you're saying and it makes perfect sense @minnowbuilder!

I've made no secret of the fact that I love this contest and am proud that I have managed an entry every single week since the beginning. It's one of my favorite posts of the week!

I miss featuring an optional bonus blogger - so I'd love it if that came back again.

I like that the max rep was increased, but also point out that rep and even SP aren't a great indicator of what qualifies as a newbie (since both can be bought to a certain degree). I suspect that projected payout is a better indicator, but even that is incomplete as even a newbie can have a @curie that throws the numbers off.

I'm afraid I don't have too many ideas on making it better right now. I'm struggling with jaw pain (TMJ) at the moment, which is having a negative impact on my mental ability - and I can't see a dentist until next week. (And even that might take care of only one suspected aspect of the pain.)

There are so many factors that can boost a newbie beyond level 50 really easily and curie alone makes a massive difference, but paid votes can do it too. The move to level 55 has really helped with allowing everyone to find people that have shown a little more commitment to sticking around.

As for the optional featured blogger, that is an easy one to add back into the mix. Felt like it wasn't really being used much except for a couple people. But it's optional and if even just one person likes it there is no reason not to have it.

Hope everything works out at the dentist!

The best part about pifc are the people behind it. All that are involved. Sponsors, judges and even the entries who bring features in to give them more exposure

With the amount of messages on discord I think we know each others thoughts pretty well on this subject. Thanks for your amazing efforts for the contest and running the discord room!

It's all team work. And you put one hell of a team together 👍

All votes have been cast. Will share the results tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for taking part!

Well after reading what everyone else already said lol pretty much covers it for me 😉. That saved me like 10 mins of texting🤣. I dont think anything could be changed you guys are doing a good thing. Maybe a NEW idea would be to find posts that are like under a dollar and we add it in our post what it was when we found them? And we could like set goals just small ones like wish goals ( like lets get this post to hit the $2 mark etc.) But like i said it would have to be like over so many hours old and under X amount and logged for the blogs we picked? Idk just thinking out loud. 🌸

Thinking out loud is something I do a lot of. Many ideas get tossed around and many of them go nowhere, but some end up being great.

I kind of like the idea of listing the payout amount to see the effect....but fear it might send the wrong message. While adding to the post rewards is important it's not the only thing that those visiting the posts can add. The comments add a ton of value too and don't want people to think if they can't move the payout value they aren't helping by visiting posts. Might be something to think about to use in some way for a future contest...now you have me thinking ;) .

The best part of @pifc is the opening of people's eyes to the importance of sharing something interesting that you have found with other people. Steemit has no inbuilt discovery, and so it is possible (almost assured) that you will miss out on authors, just because you will never see them. Bring able to write about someone you have found, gives the other person more exposure to a different network of accounts. Exposure is the key ingredient that is missing from the Steemit experience, @pifc goes a good way to helping overcome this problem.

There really needs to be a better way to find content that you find of interest then is currently available. Glad we can serve to bring forward some quality content each week and look forward to seeing thing keep growing.
