Day 18: Big News Coming Soon

Oh how I hate teasers, but for right now it's what I'm going to do to you...lol. It's actually kind of fun being on this side of things! Make sure to follow this account if you like daily upvotes and are interested in helping others grow.

Had a very long conversation today with @andrewharland and while we are putting some numbers together I'm very confident that we will be able to get the @minnowbuilder program up and running sooner then expected and be able to fund multiple levels of this program much faster.

MinnowBuilder Levels

So I've talked about levels before, but will give a little more detail in my thoughts on this topic now.

LevelSteem Power
Level 120sp - 49.99sp
Level 250sp - 99.99sp
Level 3100sp - 174.99sp
Level 4175sp - 249.99sp
Level 5250sp - 349.99sp
Level 6350sp - 500sp

You will notice a couple things. First most likely that level one doesn't start until someone has 20sp. Why don't I love the brand new members of steemit...well I do, but they need to prove they are here to last and willing to invest their earnings into themselves before we start giving them upvotes.

Next is that the levels start to have more and more SP needed to progress. This is pretty obvious to those who have progressed up the charts to any level. Ignoring the changes in steem prices effecting payouts those who have 350sp tend to have larger payouts without assistance then people with 20sp. Part of this is due to the value of a self vote, but more it has to do with the work required in terms of building a social network to reach the 350sp mark.

Now these levels aren't set in stone, but odds are pretty strong that it will be close to this amount of accounts and these break points.

Sort:

In the first level at the moment but will try my best movw upwards on the platform.

Check your two pending posts, gave them both a little boost to help out (from my personal account). With the amount of steem and SBD you are holding you are pretty close to breaking 50sp if you power it all up. Keep up the good work!

Thank you appreciate it, and will definitely try to break the barrier soon.

Wow I am higher up on that list than I realised. Mostly due to recent growth over the last month.
I was able to buy 50 steem and it is the best thing I ever did for my account.
Growth has accelerated noticeably since hitting 100 sp. Networking is entirely responsible for that. Being able to drop more little courtesy votes means more ability to engage.
I may be wrong but my experience with this indicates each level being progressively easier to achieve.

You experienced exactly what I see across the board. Have talked to many others about their experiences in going up the ranks and it's always the start that is the hardest.

The first 100 are the hardest 100 you will earn (short getting lucky with a curie vote).

You really start to notice the difference once you reach minnow status IMO. You have proven to those who have already put in your dues that you are hear to stay and that you aren't here to milk the system pulling money out at every chance possible.

Well minnow is a long way to go for me. If everything goes well getting close by spring is my hope.
Right now I am gaining more SP from engagement than from posting.
Shooting for 2-3 posts a week and 300+ well placed comments gains 3-4 steem/sp per week.
I expect to buy steem at least a couple more times over the winter. Then I can evaluate the situation again going into next summer. Who knows what opportunity will arise with the upcoming fork.

@headchange
Sorry for intruding but how many SP's do you need to become a minnow?

Cheers!

minnows are 500 sp. There is a new project just starting up that is looking for people who are at 450 or more.
I am all for building up more minnows because passing that threshold means one more person who has strong motivation to stay active.

True true... One glorious day I shall be a minnow.

I have to admit it is a bit self serving as well. The people who support us on a regular basis are far more likely to continue doing so if they are growing themselves.

Even Curie votes aren't worth that much right now. You're lucky to break 30 with them at the moment. But it's still a wonderful boost when it happens.

I totally agree though - the first 100 is the hardest.

Is this delegations or how many SP are in an account? So if someone has over 500 SP, they don't get any more upvotes, and if they have less than 20 they don't get upvotes?

We will be focused on owned SP. Correct on the under 20sp, but this number might go slightly lower. The key is we are looking for people who have proven they are investing in themselves and the steemit platform vs those who take all their earnings out. Not interested in giving someone a fee daily upvote just so they can take the money and run never advancing to the next level. Goal is to build minnows, not pay someone for being here.

As for over 500sp, correct for now. There will be a dolphin level at some point, but want to focus on the minnows first.

Okay, that makes sense.

Level 6 here - and I've worked hard for every level.
The first 100 SP are definitely the hardest, but once you're involved in Discord and engaging with people, producing excellent content on a daily basis (or whatever floats your boat), it gets easier.

Don't think you have to buy your way up the tables either.
I've earned (the hard way) every SP I have - yes, I do use a couple of selected upvoters, but that's also from earned SBD and/or Steem.

I completely agree. It does go faster as you advance. You get to the first 100 SP and the next thing you know you're almost at 500.

I am waiting for more my friend I do want to see what this has planned.
