Legislative elections in Luxembourg
Today, from 8h to 14h, about 250 000 Luxembourg citizens are expected to vote for the new Parliament ("Chambre des Députés") and elect its 60 members.
A small country of about 600 000 inhabitants, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg punches way above its weight on the international scene. Luxembourg is a founding member of the EU, siege of several EU Institutions and has given to the EU several great politicians including the current Président of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker.
More interesting is the fact that these elections could very well have an impact on the crypto world. The current government has initially made some friendly moves but then it lost momentum. The governing coalition is expected to be defeated by the CSV.
Given the importance of the financial industry in Luxembourg and the potential impact that blockchain technology and crypto could have on it, it is reasonable to expect a more purposeful approach from the new CSV-led government.
If that is the case, Luxembourg may well come to the front of the European blockchain scene, alongside Malta.
