Steemmonsters Experiment - SE6, day 3: It Is Getting Ridiculous
Due to circumstances, only a short note to let you know that the experiment I'm conducting to find out what it's like to play Steemmonsters without having money to invest, isn't very relevant anymore.
Lost Post
Earlier today I spent more than an hour writing an update, then pushed a wrong button, and everything was gone again.
That'll teach me for still using the SteemIt editor from the Ice-Age, instead of using Steempeak, which saves drafts, or my HTML- editor, which at least allows me to save drafts.
I wasn't really in the mood to start all over again, so all my exciting news will have to wait till tomorrow.
Too Good To Be True
For now, I only wanted to share with you that the experiment has drifted even further from being the average experience it was supposed to be.
The three gold foil cards had actually already ruined it, because let's be honest, how lucky can one be to get 3 gold foils in his first week?
That's definitely not what the average player experiences.
If I would be the 'conspiracy-theory' kind of person, I would already be thinking that the cards I'm getting as a reward are being manipulated by @yabapmatt and @aggroed to show everyone that it is not only possible to grow your deck without investing, but even easy.
Fortunately, I'm not the 'conspiracy-theory' type, and I'm sure they have more important things to care about.
Still, it is becoming pretty unreal, and I'm starting to feel guilty towards all those real newcomers.
Let me show you the reward cards I got for completing my DQ just now, and you'll understand what I mean.
I received only 3 reward cards, but one was a legendary 'Black Dragon', and another one the epic 'Brownie'.
I think you can't deny that my experience is far from average.
Of course I'm very delighted with the pull, but I've been so unbelievably lucky that it really messes up the entire experiment...
I will rewrite my update tomorrow, but I really hád to share this with you now.

What do you mean with 'food pulls'? I'm not familiar with the expression.
My spontaneous interpretation would be that you mean those higher value reward cards are distributed to new players intentionally, so they would not be disappointed and leave again quickly...
I really hope my interpretation is wrong, because if not, my joke about my rewards being manipulated would be the sad truth...

But when comparing rewards between accounts it can feel like rank plays into it. I am sure I just don't care about epics I don't use on my main account. Once the dataset gets bigger I can see if it normalizes.

But the guy I talked to yesterday hadn't been so lucky. So I wonder how you can.put 'rank' into the equasion?
