China can retaliate asymmetrically in other ways. China is also a dictatorship, so Xi won't be subject to the same pressure Trump will from domestic interests. It will be interesting to see how long the Republicans back Trump in this effort.
The sad reality is nobody ever wins trade wars...just a circle jerk that ends up costing people more money.
