This Is How Blockchain Technology Will Disrupt Every Industry - Even Apart From The Financial Sector by @agent

What is Parley?

Parley is a Steem-based Reddit competitor that allows users to submit links and curate news they find around the web in order to promote discussion on the Steem platform. Read more

Just read agent's post, and it is a good one. It's too bad that Steemit just buries posts like that. There should really be an evergreen format that can just add the rewards every seven days. I would think that would be totally doable.

As for the list, it's quite amazing. What's even more amazing is, I believe the STEEM blockchain, if properly managed, could handle all of it. The question would be, would it be properly managed.

I guess we'll find out what happens when SMTs finally hit. Or for that matter, Velocity, Hivemind and Communities. Anyone of those things, if true to the hype, is going to test the durability, security, and scalability of the STEEM blockchain.

Personally, I'd like to see it happen before the end of Summer. I'd like to see it all roll out in succession, take on the new stuff and people that come with it, or return, and then move on to the next upgrade/update.

However, I'm just an average user posting, commenting and curating on the Steemit platform, so it will happen however it happens. :)

However, I'm just an average user...

Quick @glenalbrethsen grab the fire extinguisher. You pants are fire! 😅
Average user my butt. You are king of the comment mountain, 2 weeks running! 🙄
You spoke and a worldwide poll was done of the number of people eating Mexican food showing that the number had gone up by 2.
Nope Nope I looked back at the report and it went up by 200%. Wowzer Dilly Dilly!

But, seriously... Wasn't that a good read? I especially liked the picture showing a few of instances where the blockchain could revolutionize entire industries.

I guess I'm going to have to start a list, but there was talk not too long ago of resteems with comments. Wasn't that official Steemit? Regardless, I think I would have preferred that over using this site to share the info. And it would have been a bit tedious to do a post about this post. Trying to keep Cheetah from noticing all the quoting going on...

Anyway, that combined with someway to reward the author for posts > 7 days should be implemented. Maybe it was Appics that had the continuous tip button. That would be good, but it would come out of our wallets, so a way to upvote older posts would be great! Someone will figure it out.

There will great pushing back against these revolutions. Why would charity organizations want to implement blockchain, when it would mean people would turn away from the inefficient ones (the largest ones) and start giving more either to the organizations who pass through the greatest percentage of donations to those in need, or giving directly to those in need...

Yes sir. It is a fun time to be involved with this great experiment.

Yeah, right. 200%. :)

I'm doing fine in the league, and that gets me out there and commenting on posts that I might not reach on my own, but still, it's not that much more than what an average user here should be doing. Those who are doing more than just the leagues, which includes many in the leagues, would be way higher in the standings if they weren't also doing all the initiatives, spending time on Discord, etc. So, I'm well aware of my actual place here, and I'm actually quite happy with it, for now.

Yeah, this blockchain migration isn't going to happen without a fight. Still, like your charity example, it won't take the big ones coming over, it will just take the small to maybe moderate-sized ones to tip things over. The ones that are truly about charity. When people see that their donations are actually doing good rather than lining a CEO's pocket of a nonprofit organization no less, it won't take long for the funds to dry up and the blockchain based charities to become the new big kids on the block. :)

Something will come along to change things here. If a developer with ICO or blockchain experience is smart, they'll be monitoring posts here and coming up with a way to implement everything that is good about the STEEM ecosystem, and avoid as much of what is not, then watch Steemit have to match it. Steemit has the advantage of being first to market. It's going to have to prove how nimble it is to pivot when competition finally heats up.

That's what people are hoping Dan's threatened social media platform on EOS will be. He'll actually need people who understand what social media is, though, before it becomes threat. :)

All I know is that I'm still eating leftover Mexican casserole! haha

  • I'm just happy to point toward you and tell my friends, hey, I know that guy. You know Elvis? He doesn't even look like Elvis. No No No I said he was king, not The King. hehe

I blitzed through a post just the other day that said Facebook is looking at the blockchain and specifically looking at Steemit. I welcome competition. Be it Dan's deal, Facebook or some unknown coming out of the blue. McDonald's doesn't have the best burger in town, but they are #1 worldwide because they were first to market. I occasionally use their service, mostly for the $1 sweet teas, but usually look for an alternative to purchase a meal. So, I said all that to say, I think we being the early adopters will be amply rewarded in the long run many times over what our wallets are showing at this time...

True that all it would take would be say the Salvation Army to implement blockchain and Red Cross would be toast! They would quickly burn through their reserves trying to market why people should use them, but it would be a wasted effort and they would likely pull the marketing campaign, split profits and dissolve.

All of everyone's worries will seem trivial when the "big boys" come to play. Can you imagine all the ways Proctor & Gamble could use a platform like this. Instead of tossing mud on the wall advertising on TV or platforms like Google and Facebook, they could create their community (anyone who washes stuff haha) and directly reward, building support for their many brands. It would be a way more efficient marketing model for them and it will be great for we, the lil ol' consumers!

This article said P&G...

... cut digital advertising spend by $200 million last year based on viewership data provided by tech and media companies that showed its ads were not reaching its target audience effectively.
P&G’s advertising costs, which includes spends on worldwide television, print, radio, internet and in-store advertising, were $7.1 billion in 2017, down from $7.2 billion in 2016.

Steem.Supply shows the rewards pool to be 2,044,585 USD.
We're talking the reward pool could be over 3500 times bigger if just P&G threw their marketing money at this platform. Give them a testimonial, they reward you with a months supply of dish soap...

And that's just one corporation... It's gonna get funner and funner!

I'm not sure I'm ready for big boys here yet. A proctor & gamble type might be okay, but others like big media groups, not so much. It gets way too crowded way too fast.

And as long as I don't have to wake up to advertising in my feed, just the posts of those who I follow, I will be fine. Otherwise, I will probably be moving on, since I personally feel advertising is dead. It just doesn't know it yet. :)

I just ran across this older post that did not give me the option to resteem it. I thought, wow, this would be a great use of Parley.io that I recently ran across.

@agent covers these revolutionary use cases for blockchains.
1) Smart Contracts / Ownership Verification
2) Internet of Things (IoT)
3) Tracking (Supply Chain Food Safety)
4) Distributing Aid
5) Identity Verification

Congratulations on being an early adopter of the blockchain! Steemit is just the tip of the iceberg!!!
